What do you do in waiting rooms? |
Apart from the obvious answer of 'wait', how do you pass the time. Do you read the tatty magazines that are on the table in the middle of the room, watch the re-runs showing on the telly or do you stare at your thumbs as they busy themselves with twiddling? Maybe you like to look at all the other people who are waiting. Do you ever look up from what you are doing and see someone else quickly look back at their magazine, trying to hide the fact they were watching you waiting? I think I actually do a combination of all of the above! What about you?

1. Angelwhispers (4405) | 3 months ago | I usually find someone to talk to. I break ice pretty well, and before you know it I will be in conversation with the person sitting next to me. Or if it does seem to be a quiet solemn atmosphere I will read what you call the tatty magazines, and if I catch someone watching me wait I will smile and hope for a conversation LMAO

muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | So you're one of the chatty one's. If we we're in the waiting room together, I would probably see you start smiling at me, so I'd duck back into my magazine, occasionally peeking out to see if you we're still looking, LOL! I actually don't find it easy having a conversation in a waiting room, I don't know why that is!

muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Yep, gum, I usually give my chewy a real workout in the waiting room, I think it stops my jaw from clenching from my impatience of waiting, LOL! Do you ever do the crossword while you're waiting?
| |
cupid74 (2831) | 3 months ago | Yeah chewing gum is good habit in waiting, and if u r in angry mood u can shew hard i am not much into talking, well i never tried cross word, i better like reading, and watching is not bad too, if some gorgeous are around. Take care
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | I like crosswords, but I don't think I could concentrate enough in the waiting room to do one. I don't chat much either, but it is nice to look around sometimes.

muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Sounds like you use most of the features of your mobile phone. Playing games would certainly be a good one for passing the time. As for the beautiful girl, that may work for me, unless my wife catches me checking her out, LOL!

muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Most times there is something boring on the telly, so playing games on your cell phone is a great way to pass the time. So when you 'catch' someone looking at you, do you keep looking at them, or go back to your game?
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | They might just be curious about what game is keeping you so interested, LOL!

6. daveisdavid (757) | 3 months ago | I would grab a magazine and flip through the pages. Otherwise, I would reach out for my mobile phone and play a couple of games to pass time. Sometimes I would even grab those magazines that I've just read and flip through the pages again just to past time.
| |
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Playing games on the mobile phone seems to be a popular thing. As for the mags, there's only so many times you can look through them, and a lot are all pretty much the same.

7. jairgirl (801) | 3 months ago | hello muscare, i rarely go to a hospital or any medical facility coz it makes me sad i feel it is a place where i see pain and just rare happiness. anyway, to answer your question, i will either read the magazine if i have my ipod with me i will just listen to it while looking around and see how other's are. i will roam around the area just to lessen the boredom and the feeling of worry inside me - im a worrier so it is not easy for me to be there or i will be in the ICU in an instant LOL if i have someone with me, i will just talk to him or i will just hush and hope that all is well inside that close room. btw, my husband will tear up all his finger nails coz of the boredom and stress combine, i hate it but that's how he handles it so be it grrrrrr.... takecare!
| |
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Medical waiting rooms are definitely places I avoid as much as possible, but sometimes it can't be helped. You like to look around to see how others are? That would probably mean that when I came out from hiding behind my magazine, I'd see you looking at me, LOL! I also tend to be a worrier, and there doesn't need to be a good reason, just being in the doctors waiting room is enough. Hubby tears up his finger nails? Is that with his teeth? I nibble mine a bit when I'm feeling anxious.
| |
jairgirl (801) | 3 months ago | yea, sometimes it is inevitable! haha, will surely caught you faking your magazine reading LOL yup! the man loves to tear up his finger nails using his teeth and fingers, drives me crazy and i honestly gave up hoping he will stop it someday. oh well i love him anyway! btw, you better stop playing with those finger nails LOL takecare!
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Ok,jairgirl, I'll leave my nails alone just because you asked me so nicely, LOL! I seem to go through stages where they grow really well, and other times my nails are virtually non existent. Oh, well, I'll keep working on it.
| |
jairgirl (801) | 3 months ago | why thank you LOL. yeah my husband is the same it takes him years to have it grow well, i met him with almost no fingernails at all but oh well i love him anyway despite his love for it's taste haha! keep working though! bye now!
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Hmmm, funny, I always say that I had nice fingernails until I met my wife...LOL, luckily she knows I'm such a kidder!
| |
jairgirl (801) | 3 months ago | haha, guys do love to imagine ei? LOL im glad that your wife accepts you anyway (kidding!) anyway great to know that you guys are quite a couple as well keep it up it is a rare one. takecare and good night!

8. maliki2 (247) | 3 months ago | I usually read a magazine if I can find one that is somewhat interesting. Or in most cases I will watch TV if they have one. Sometimes they have stuff I'm not interested in on, so I will go back to the magazine or paper if available.
| |
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | That can be the hard thing, finding a magazine that's interesting. As for the tv, I was in a waiting room the other day, and there was a kids show on! No kids in the room! So yeah, back to the mag.

9. ersmommy1 (4915) | 3 months ago | I usually have to entertain my child. Or keep her from getting into something she should avoid. You would be surprised how quickly time flies in the waiting room with your child there.lol. Before she came along, I'd bring a book with me.
| |
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | I know what you mean about kids helping the time to fly. My son's just started school at the start of the year, so I can no longer take him to my appointments just for the sake of breaking the boredom, LOL! His teachers wouldn't be impressed.

10. jrsmith (217) | 3 months ago | Unfortunately since my Mama spent most of 2 months there before she went to be with Jesus. I can answer this easily. I found that the hospital she was in had a complimentary internet and I have a laptop. So it was well used and like musical chairs when one would go back to see Mama. Also the trusty old cellphone was a blessing but of course I had to have my charger because it would go down in a hurry with all the texting and calling.
| |
| |
muscare (1148) | 3 months ago | Complimentary internet would definitely pass the time really quickly, and the cell phone does certainly get a work out for lots of people. By the way, sorry about your Mama.
