What is work?

Yikes! It seems that to some people, work means to constantly be in motion and keeping several irons in the fire, and burning candles at every end as well as in the middle, and checking to see if other people are busy, busy, busy (i.e., that they, too, are zipping around and keeping several...blah blah blah...). I generate a lot of ideas at work. But I don't have to be in constant motion. Heck, some of my best ideas have come during reflective moments when I've been quiet and allowing the ideas to flow into me. Also, some of the best stuff I've done in Photoshop (and I still consider myself to be a novice) has been when I was given a chance to hone and make minor tweaks. Are you a thinker and doer? Or are you a frantic wheel-spinner? Or perhaps a blend of both?

I personally define work as anything you have to do that you don't really want to do. I am in the process of arranging my life so that there is no work involved. On the other hand, I have been working on my mothers garden for a few years now. I've been raising the beds with builders blocks (which I plan on painting with cheerful colors) which has been a HELLISH LOT OF WORK! But it surely is a labor of love. I made a joke somewhere about my brother's 6 ft 'to-do list'. The joke was that it was actually bigger than that... he used one whole wall for it. With headings and sub-headings and sub sub headings... my brother is ruled by his to-do list. I refuse to live like that. If I forget something now, no big deal, I'll remember it later. If I don't get something done now, I'll get it done later. I'm really in the mood for lots and lots of 'it's too hot to do anything so I think I'll just sit here in the cool breeze, swinging on my hammock daydreaming with a glass of sweet lemonade' days. Daydreaming is actually the most important part of getting any job done! It's called paving the way with your mind - being mentally prepared. Hehehe. Somebody will happen on my as I lay there smiling and sipping and gazing at the sky and they'll say "what are you doing?" and I'll say "Working".

For me work can be physical but it can also be mental. I can get worn out answering post after post here at MyLot yet I'm not physically moving except for typing. I can also wear myself out just hauling boxes without thinking at all. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
