The newest Nine Inch Nails album, The Slip  

I love Nine Inch Nails. I haven't downloaded the new album yet (didn't know it was available free on their site). I am on dial up internet, so it'll probably take forever to get it, but I will try. Or maybe I'll make one of my friends with high speed get it and burn it for me or something.
I think it will be a while before we really know how this new form of distribution will effect the music industry. With all the crazyness the last however many years due to downloading and the recording industries initial hesitation toward it, I think everyone is trying to figure out the best way to distribute music in this atmosphere.

I downloaded the album earlier today, and I think it's awesome. Overall it's a great album. Definately like the idea of distributing the music online, makes things much easier.

I love this approach that musicians have had towards reaching their fans by punishing their record labels for charging so much money for music, which should be free, or at least next to free. I don't know how it could really help them make money unless it would be by more people hearing the music because more people have access to it. I'm not sure what they are really going for, it could be self-less really. Any way you look at it, very nice. I had no idea that you could get their album for free off of their website, I will be downloading that within the next couple of days now probably! :)

I am a huge fan of nine inch nails and I am really liking the new album. Its free too so that is cool but i have a collection or their cds so i will still buy it when it comes out on cd in july (i think). I think it is better then the last album not that I did not like year zero. I really love lights in the sky it reminds me or something I can never have with i think was maybe the best or their songs, just him and a piano and of course his beautiful lyrics. So over all i really like the new album not their best album ever but it is definitely worth checking out expertly since it is free.

I thought Overall it was a really good album
all thought he has to mention "getting on your knees again..." although I am seeing NIN live July 28th
so I am very excited

I downloaded the new album and I like it a lot. I think this new way of distributing material is an excellent way to cut out the record companies. I think that Radiohead, Nine inch Nails, and other artists are setting the bar for the musical standard by using such drastic measures. I think the whole industry will eventually unravel to create something new.

i think the only reason NIN and Radiohead are giving it away is because they are mainstream bands that have been around for awhile and have probably all ready built up a small fortune so they can afford it. plus, check out their outrageous ticket prices. as for other not-so-mainstream artists, downloading them for free is killing them and their ability to make more albums since the record companies can't regain any of the money that's been invested into the band or even pay them. if you truely love a band, be decent enough to give them their $15--that really isn't alot of money.
