How do mothers treat with their daughter's boy friend?

I know of a mother who doesn't want that her daughter will have a boy friend yet because she wants her to finish her studies before having a boy friend. Well it doesn't work that way because her daughter is already 18 and she has plenty of admirers. Finally she was into relationship with somebody. The mother was so worried and upset but she doesn't want to show it to her daughter neither to the boyfriend afraid that they might run away and elope. What she did was to make friends with the guy. She told him that her daughter is so precious to her and that she wants respect from that guy. The mother was so kind to the guy, though deep inside, it is against her will. As the days go by, the mother gets to know more about the guy and found out that hes is a good man. The guy also was so pleased and said he will never do bad things against her daughter because of the kindness that the mother showed to him. He feels that she consider him as a son and that he will really respect his girl friend and his family. Very good!! parenting. Could you do the same if it happens to you?

If the child is so young, then I think the mother have to worry about that! Because of they maybe still not have enough ability to do the right decision! That is also depend the personaility of that guy! this case is luck, because that guy is nice, but that does not means everyone same like this guy! So keep looking for that guy. when you can make sure he is a good man! Then you can give your little girl's hand to this guy!

Yes thats exactly what I would do, my children mean the world to me i will support them in everything they want to do and will always be there for them when things are good and if things go bad. My opinions on their boyfriends wont matter what matters that im there for them if things did go wrong id not break our relationship over a boy no way.

Sounds like a very smart mother! I think I would do the same. Often by trying to keep our kids from another person, we push them right into their arms. Boyfriends (or girlfriends) can really be a distraction from studies, but such a smart mother probably has a smart daughter who will try to please her by keeping up with studies!

Right!! I agree with you. the mother is so smart. I don't know if I can do the same if it happens to me personally. It's hard to pretend when you really don't like. right? But she did it because she loved her daughter.. Thanks for replying!!
