Regular Ice Cream or Soft Serve Ice Cream ; Cones or cups we like it in

I visited baskin robbins as I had a two for one coupon and my friend wanted to try their soft serve ice cream. We both got a kids cone and were wondering what the big deal was... The soft serve only comes in vanilla and costs more than their other ice cream costs. What kind of ice cream do you like better-- Regular ice cream which is hand scooped out and pushed into your ice cream cone or the soft serve which comes from a machine and is swirled when it lands in your cone? Do you like a sugar cone, a regular ice cream cone, a waffle cone or just a cup for your ice cream?

I like soft serve ice cream in ones, but if they don't have soft serve, I'll be happy with regula ie cream in a one. I prefer a cone over a cup, because that way I ean eat the entire thing.

Wondering something... What is it that makes the soft serve better than the scooped ice cream... Is it the texture or the taste or both? Thanks.

Just reading this made me want some Ice Cream! LOL. anyways I like the hard scoop mostly because I absolutely love Mint Chocolate chip :D. I preferr the waffle cone but I usually take my ice cream in a cup because I don't really care much for getting my hands sticky. :P

Mint chocolate chip is great! Those cones are good if you don't want to make a mess... Thankd for posting.

I actually like to have both kinds of ice cream. I generally like soft serve in a cone, but I often have it in a cup as well. In fact, I prefer ice cream in a cup overall. I like the ice cream cones, but I don't really feel like eating my ice cream that way anymore. It seems like they put more ice cream in the cups than the cones because the cones are smaller.

That's good. I like soft ice cream a lot. I used to walk up the road and up the hill to an ice cream and golf place to get my favorite ice cream. I rather have it in a dish/cup. For me, I rather choose to buy frozen yogurt. I would rather choose fat/sugar free/light frozen yogurt.

What is it that you like about the soft serve, the taste, the texture or both? I am a hard scoop person so I am curious... Thanks for your response.

I guess it depends on my mood, though I usually prefer regular ice cream over soft serve, especially when it is from Baskin Robbins! Though I haven't tried their soft serve yet. I've usually gotten the ice cream on a regular cone, though I have gotten it on a sugar cone before as well.

The soft serve isn't bad as soft serves go but it only comes in vanilla and I like a bit more variety. Thanks for posting.

I love soft ice cream but I'm not a vanilla fan, not that I don't like vanilla but I like other flavors better. The restaurant down the street from me has soft peanut butter now and then and is that ever YUMMY! I like waffle cones but I usually get mine in a cup so it doesn't melt all over my hands and everywhere else. Annie

I can understand about wanting to prevent melting especially if you are going to be taking them places... Thanks for posting.

I love soft serve ice cream it is the best you can get. I love it in a waffle cone. I love vanilla chocloate twist in a nice tall waffle cone. I am going to have to go get some ice cream now.

Oh, that sounds like fun to go out to get ice cream. Well, to me, rather than going out for ice cream, I would go to a grocery place to get myself some light/sugar free frozen yogurt. My flavors are vanilla, chocolate, and raspberry. I would have it in a dish or cup. Yeah, fat free, too. I am always concerned about my overall health. So I much rather go with frozen yogurt instead of regular ice cream.

It depends. There are a few ice cream shops that have the flavor burst soft serve and I really like that. It comes in around 40 flavors at one ice cream shop around here. (at other shops they only have like 8 flavors) Usually I like the regular because of all the flavors. I really love Mackinaw Island Fugde ice cream. Carrot Cake ice cream is so good, too. I like the regular also because of the chunks of stuff in it. I like having the added texture in my ice cream.

I never knew a flavor burst soft serve existed.... You have a lot of flavors in your area that we do not have here. I am glad that you like them. Thanks for posting.

i like hard serve ice cream best, myself. but what i love to do is bypass all them dinky bowls at buffet restaurants they expect you to use. Instead i use their plastic soup bowls and cram as much as i can into that. and i havent once gotten a dirty look. but i likes my ice cream.

I never thought of using those soup cups for that but I will soon... That way you can make a sundae and not have it spill over the edge of the cup... Thanks for posting.

If I am sitting down eating ice cream somewhere, hard ice cream in a cup is good, it is much easier to eat, as it doesn't melt all over the place, plus it comes in more flavors, and you can more easily put toppings on it. In the summer, I do like to get soft serve if I am at the shore, or out someplace. For some reason I prefer soft-serve in a cone, even if it does melt more easily and make a mess!
