I'm wondering who will be McCain's partner. Probably Romney or Huckabee will be chosen. It was also rumored that McCain will pick Secretary of State Rice. Who will have a positive effect on the campaign when playing a role as a Vice President Candidate?
It's so mysterious.

I have no idea whom that would be. But it seems now that they want John to be the next president... Obama and Clinton seems to kicked out... But I want Obama to win..

I was thinking of Romney or Rice as possible
v.p. candidates. Whoever he chooses, I think it will
most likely be someone that is on the conservative
side because many republicans view McCain as too
liberal.

I think he'll need to take a good look at where his strengths and weaknesses lie and then look for a Vice-President who will help him appeal to the constituents who would otherwise not vote for him.

John McCain is a pretty interesting character in as much as he's got an interesting record of snubbing certain elements of his party. He will be able to get independent voters who will like the fact that he's got his opinions and is willing to stick to them, even if they disagree with him. However, he has a long history of animosity against quite a few elements on the GOP - namely the Far Religious RIght. Unforutnately, if Mylot postings are factual, he's been seen with John Hagee, who is an anti-semitic preacher. I think this is an effort to try and pacify the anti-semitic element of the Republican party.

He would be better of looking for a VP candidate who would be able to neutralise this element of the political party. Mit Romney comes to mind. As a Morman with a high standing for sticking to his religious beliefs, few would be able to criticise them for being against religion. More importantly Romney has quite a bit of money and that has always been important for elections.

I don't think anyone in the current Bush Administration would be able to run imediately. Condi Rice has been a disaster at the State department - this is the woman who condoned a blatantly anti-semetic war in Lebanon as being a war against terrorism. She also loses on the Woman and Black front against Obhama or Hillary.

Rudolf Guiliani is an interesting character. This was the man who became a world figure during the 9/11 crisis. However, he's another strong independent character and I don't think he has the right chemistry to be a McCain number two.

They're right now talking on TV about a meeting McCain has called with three GOP Governors or former governors - Mitt Romney, Charlie Crist and Bobby Jindil. Earlier names such as Condie Rice and Tom Ridge had popped up but McCain himself said anyone who is pro-choice is off the list. It's not going to be an easy choice for McCain but it will be a very important one, that's about all I know for sure. Because of his age it's more important that usual that he chooses someone who will be ready and able to take over as President in a moment's notice; also because of his age the age of his running mate is important, but I think it could work either way - if he chooses someone too young it will only serve to make his "oldness" (to use his own word from SNL) more prominent. If he chooses someone extremely conservative to make up for what many on the right consider his own moderate views he risks losing any moderate Democratic or independent votes he may have had a shot at winning but if he chooses a moderate running mate that will further alienate the far-right. It will be interesting, indeed!
