Best Guitar Player  | | | |  I have been sitting here listing to Stevie Ray Vaughan's Greatest Hits CD. This guy could rock. Listening to this music got me started thinking about guitar players, and I was trying to narrow down who the best one was. This is an almost impossible task, because there are so many genres to consider, and multiple musicians from each genre who could be put on the list of the all-time greats.
Try as I may, I can't seem to narrow it down to one all-around greatest guitar player, so I am going to name off a few who would definitely be on the top of the list. I may miss the person whom you think should be on the list, so by all means, don't hesitate to add to this one in your comments.

Jimi Hendrix
Carlos Santana
BB King

| |  Most of the music that I listen to is Country music, and pretty much everyone that sings also plays the guitar. Some of them very good. If I were to pick one from the type of music that I listen to, just off the top of my head, I would say Hank Williams Sr.

| |  Obviously you are into rock, and there a plenty of good rock musicians however I would have to put a vote in for Jimi Hendrix or Eddy Van Halen. For Classic guitar, lets try Andre Segovia (don't know if I'm spelling the names right). Flamenco, Carlos Mantoya. Country, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reid & Roy Clark top my list of all time greats. Like you said there are so many genre that it is nearly impossible to pick the ONE greatest player. Then there is Pedal Steel Guitar to add into the mix and Dobro. There are some great players associated with those instruments as well. I am a country and bluegrass fan so the list could go on and on but there is a start. Have Fun!
