This is going to be a very controversial subject, but I don't think this site would be what it is if people didn't from time to time ask the hard questions to get opposite opinions flowing. So what is your opinion on abortion? Do you think it is right or wrong? Do certain curcimstances change that opinion?

Here's a term that I haven't ran into in a while, how about "PRO-LIFE"... The way I see it, only reason we should end a life is to save another... Without changing the subject, pregnancy should only be terminated if it threatens the life of the mother, or vise versa... There's been a court cases like these, a woman who's in a comma with no chance of recovery was found to be pregnant & the woman's heart was failing... Make a long story, they saved the baby but ended up pulling the plug on the woman... I know there's so many opinions & situations but we should be concerned about "life" issue before "choice" issues...

Okay but WHO'S life (or lives) should be most important? Should we pick the life of a fetus BEFORE that of the woman and anyone else in direct involvement OR should the fetus take second place?

a man's perspective..... i am pro choice. like ladyravenj, i am not necessarily pro abortion. i feel that it should be left up to the woman/couple involved, as there are a lot of circumstances that come into play in making that decision. i think that there should be some regulations, or some kind of system that can be monitored so that it doesn't become the easy way out for unwanted pregnancies. aborting a child does have lasting effects on the father of the child, too. perhaps not as much on the mother, but it is sometimes overlooked. i know from experience. my first wife and i made that decision, and i sometimes feel a void in my life that i wonder is this missing child. it is not a decision to be taken lightly, but it should be legal to make it. thank you for the topic, sturner03.

That is SO very true and I wish that many Pro Lifers could stop and realize that..its NOT just an "oops" moment and its NOT always for medical reasons ya know..Mine wasnt either of those things..

I'm not sure how it works here in the U.S since I was still living in Canada when I had mine but over there (in Ontario) you have to go for counseling first before you are approved and if they suspect that you are the least bit hesitant they WILL NOT give you the abortion..or at least thats the way it was 9 yrs ago..
it is not a decision to be taken lightly
no it isn't and I honestly think that ppl should realize that its also NOT an easy decision to make for many ppl too...I get the impression so often that Pro Lifers think those of us who have aborted, did it in a "oh well" fashion which is certainly not the case for a good 85% or higher ya know..

I think every woman has the right to make her choice on how she wants her life to be, if her life doesnt include a baby then its her right to terminate if she wishes. Personally I couldnt ever have an abortion but I had a dear friend who did and I supported her 100% because its her choice and she had her reasons for doing so i would rather be sat with her holding her hand than sat in my home not giving her the support she needed, my opinions didnt matter its her body her life and she did what was right for her I wouldnt have had to bring a baby up alone if that makes sense!
Abortion can be right or wrong depending on peoples own feelings and emotions on abortion, I am very pro choice!
