I am disappointed with the result of American Idol.....

People preferred David Cook maybe because he is more matured compared to David Archuleta. There is no doubt that both contenders are truly amazing talents, but personally I believe David Cook showed more vesatility in his vocals compared to David Archuleta.

Simon said it perfectly tonight, it doesn't matter who wins tonight, both of them will have a career in music. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that Simon had already worked out a recording deal with both David's before the finale. David Archuletta lost because the type of music he sings, as well as the type of music he will record, doesn't appeal to those who like more popular music. (I really do see him as recording a Josh Groban type record, which I think would sell very well. It's just not as appealing to the majority of the American Idol audience.) David Cook has a more mass appeal since right now rock and alternative music is making a comeback, and hip hop and rap is decreasing in it's popularity. Either way, both are very talented and I wouldn't doubt that they both have successful careers in the music industry.

Beats me I guess because he has that rockstar look. If only he did rock music instead of the usal music that the winners do. I havent watched americon idol all season but I did watch the last few min of tonights show just to see who won. I wounder how long american idol is going to last for. And if they were smart they would make it world idol.

Not that people didn't vote for David Archuleta, but that more people voted for David Cook than Archuleta. Probably both singers have garnered many millions of votes. To me, both are worthy of winning the American Idol finals, and whoever wins is immaterial. They are both stars in their own right, have built up great reputation and following, and will do well in the music business after this competition. If you look at it this way, winning the title of American Idol becomes purely academic. Now America and everywhere else which follows the American Idol series look forward to these two grow their presence in the professional music scene.
