in Delhi a 13 year girl daughter of doctor parents was found dead with the throat slit first the suspect was the man servant of the house...later his body was found on the terrace with the throat slit similar manner mainly with surgical blade...they r suspecting that the daughter had been having a relationship with the man servant parents came and caught them...he tried to run and in fit of rage this happened...for familys honour they have done away with their daughter also....police says that this muder can b done only by a doctor bcoz in both th cases specific nerve has been cut.....Can any parent do this with their only child? Was it this big an issue that could not b forgiven with a stern warning? this is so brutal...how would u handle a situation like this.....

From what I understand, this is not uncommon in India. It's not prevelant, but not uncommon. The girl, if she were having an affair with an undesirable would have been killed in Honor of her family. The doctors will not solve the case nor will the police. I think God, I live in a country where murder is investigated regardless of the status of the people involved.
I think it's called the "caste" system, but I would welcome any person of Indian origin to correct me and to educate me in the "untouchables."
I'm looking for education, not condemnation. Thanks.

Thanks so much for aiding in my education. I do love learning about other cultures. Still, this is such a horrid thing to happen. Do you think the system of "honor killing" is due to lack of education of the people who still believe in the practice, or is it just plain bigotry? Thanks

mainly it is bcoz of lack of education...in remote villages...or this guy(father has been arrested) may b having a mental problem...i hope i have helped 2 some extent by clearing ur doubts....in India also law and order is nt as bad as it sounds...i do trust it yes some politically influential people twist it..there are cases in Fast Track Court where case verdicts are quick and justice is given...India is culurally and historically very rich...we have beatiful places here right frm sandunes of Jaisalmer, Kumaon Hills, National Parks, Himalyas, Tea gardens..and tourism is at its peak...i love my country inspite os such instances which r not really related to any country but the individuals thinking....have a grt day

yes u r right her parents are influential..and maybe they r trying to misguide the cops but they will be nailed...but here getting bail is easy so they might get out...that is sad....there r loop holes in the leagal guidelines which people misuse...there r instances where the boyfriend is killed and girl sent out of country...but it is not easy to kill ones own flesh and blood...
India has also modernised to a lot of extent...first abt the caste system...i m of brahmin caste but i fell in love with a rajput boy and since he was settled and educated my parents were fine with it...there r inter religion marriages cousin of ours married a christian and they are very happy so we r also very happy...one of our cousin married a muslim girl pakistani citizen they r happy families r happy..in cities untouchability does not exist at all...in remote villages which r still very backward like no electricity, education there it still exists...that is also only bcoz of lack of education...my maid does cooking for me she is frm the untouchables but we do eat wt she cooks and even in parties no one has issues eating...these r very small issues in villages it is still tough...let us hope Govt does something abt this...hope i have manged to give u brief insight...have a nic day

The media says that the parents had their dinner and had gone out for some time and when they came back they found their daughter in a compromising situation. I think when a couple go to bed together they are always aware of who is coming into the room. It is just not possible for the servant who is a grandfather to not keep his ears open for the door noise if he was actually having an affair with this kid. And they would be alone in the house together all day. Why wait for such short breaks in between?

i fully agree with u...i also dont think the aged servant will b involvd with the kid ....even if they had an affair they have enough time together through the day why wud they risk in parents presence...there is surely more to this...lets wait and watch wt more comes out...

Many things happen-news are heard day after day. This is another one.I can't say yes or no...cos this world is full of surprises. They may,but for a reason only them can explain. But how sure are the police, can a doctor consent to such? Except the doctor has no child. But who ever that may have done this,he/she must be evil.
To me,if they(parents/doctor) are tried and found guilty(somethig very likely),they should be given lfe sentence, and never be allowed to see any human being till they're gone.I guess I'm not being judgemental here.

The parents were probably outraged at the fact that if she was having a relationship with him that it was happening. Yes because there are children that are beaten, raped, and starved everyday by there own parents. Trust me I was one of them. Alot of those parents probably hvae serious mental problems.

that is so sad that those parents felt that the only way to restore honor was to kill there daughter and her so called lover. it sickens me to think that there was no other way to handle the situation.

this is actually very horrid..there are many ways this cud be handled...such grave steps taken by educated people set me thinking...wt is the point of their knowledge if they could not handle this...killers cant b life savers..how can they save someones life when they are so lowly in their outlook....i hope this spreads some awareness among people who still r very conservative in their thoughts and can think of such drastic steps...thanx 4 ur comments..

No hard feelings friend just facts...like u said the servant must have killed her this even the cops have ruled out...then why is the police following her parents frm haridwar to delhi there must b something they know? we can give that much credit to our countrys law and order?

I can't relate to stories like this. Why is it a problem that the girl was having a relationship? How can a child dating be such a huge disgrace to the family but the parents acting like animals & killing their child is not a disgrace?
No parent should do this to any child.

i find it hard to believe such stories they r very harsh..in India still moral values r very high and children are expected to behave as per their parents desire....there is a law having any phys. relation with a minor (below 18yrs) with consent or without consent is considerd crime....so even law doesnt consider this right...but wt the parents did they shud b hung...

I have read many similar happenings in India and Pakistan. It is difficult to imagine such brutality and lack of compassion can exist in the modern world. This kind of criminality should be prosecuted by the government in order to protect young girls and women from the stupid traditions and beliefs of their parents.

this is devastating....exactly as you have said: it's hard to believe that for honor, [arents can kill their child as easy as that.
in this time and age, social status in a relationship isn't that important at all or if in some culture it is, i hope not to the extant that they're gonna kill for it.

i fully agree with u...such acts are condemened by all cultures, communities and countries...i care hoots to such moral values if my child does this i find alternatives i wud scold and give spnking also and b very furious but not this...this is out of imagination...thank u for ur views...i hope people who have doubts that familys honor is everything and to whom such acts are acceptable read all these reviews and see how all detest them globally...

How gruesome!! If indeed the parents killed the servant much more their own flesh and blood, what kind of parents are they? I certainly can't do that to my own child or to any person. I dont wanna go to jail. If my daughter loves a servant and presuming I don't like the guy for my daughter, I would secretly send her away far from the guy. In another country perhaps so he can't follow. But i would certainly not kill.

IT IS MORE SURPRISING that you are believing Indian police which is NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF CRIMINALS AND GOONDAS. I am not saying people cant do like that but in this case, NOIDA police is just proving itself to be consisting of just IDIOTS. Today, anybody can commit any type of crime, it is KALYUG but we should not go by stories concocted by police. Regarding precision in murder, anybody can do that. When you say they did it in rage, then how could they apply such precision of surgery. OK I believe parents can do such things but I cannot believe Police under any circumstances.
One thing more, Indian media could highlight poor people also, atleast for a change. Thousands of poor in and around Delhi are killed every year, how many get this much attention? This country needs an OVERHAUL.
