Freecycle: Are you missing out?

Oh, I belong to many freecycle groups, 4 to be precise. The two local ones and two that were close to where I used to work, but frequently visit. I've gotten some really nice things from freecycle. I think it's a brilliant idea, and a great way to keep things out of the landfills. I only wish that I was the one that came up with this brilliant idea. Everyone should belong to freecycle!!!

I LOVE freecycle!

I was a member in MN and NC and received many wonderful gifts that others were done with, and gave them a new life. I haven't had much to give away myself, but I did offer some flowers that I needed to thin out, and even some horse manure! One gentleman that lived less than a mile away jumped all over that one, as he was starting his business of worm farming, LOL.

I'm still a member since moving here to Ohio, but I haven't given or received anything yet. Oh wait, that's not true. I was able to borrow a cat carrier from someone so that I'd be able to get the abandoned kittens we found to the vet.

I love freecycle. I first found out about it when I was living in Austin, Tx. I cant remember how I found out about it though. To test it out I had a whole bunch of computer games I didnt want anymore. I put it on there what I had and holy crap. Withing 20 minutes I had so many emails. Over a 100 I know that lol. I had to go thru and see who I should give them to, that wasnt much fun lol. They had regular stuff listed on there. When I moved to Oklahoma I moved to a small town. Joined the freecycle, and wow, barely saw anything I would want lol. Fence posts, barbwire, farming stuff. All that kind of stuff. Now that I live in Memphis, I joined here, and oh so much good stuff. Ive gotten some candle holders, cups, computer games. Got my roommates to join and they have gotten and given away a lot of stuff. Still working on my parents, they are older and well freak out about stuff online. They keep saying they are going to join but keep forgetting.

Nope I'm not missing out, I hate freecycle and the power hungry moderators that are there, and the 'volunteers' that think they can dictate everything to a person and how you do things.

I had a group and some power hungry volunteer in PA was a real b--ch and I ended up closing the group completely, she tried to get me to sign it over, and I said nope no way, and let someone else start over from scratch....

To much griping on freecycle, to much competition, Id rather donate it or throw it away.

Never again will I join freecycle, and NEVER again will I promote it or anything about it.

So far so good, I have not requested anything and probably will not, but have had good luck giving away things.

I belong to 4 Freecycle groups. In that amount, also includes the Freecycle that I run for my local community. I love the idea of Freecycle and have been a member in groups since 2004.
