Do you tend to eat the bottom piece of the bread?

I never do.. I just don't. Once I tried it, and I did not like the way it tasted in my mouth.. The bottom piece is very dry..

I really see no difference when I've tasted it. Everyone in my family eats that part well at least whoever gets to it first. But I do eat it and like the other people have already said it does make a good grilled cheese sandwhich.

I am the only one that eats them so I never have to worry about not having bread for a sandwich. I flip them inside out so the ends of the bread are on the inside of the sandwich. These pieces are great for making grilled cheese too. The only time I won't eat the end piece is when they are really super thin and I just know that it is going to end up falling apart when I add anything to it.

Hi, cream. I actually like the end pieces of bread very much. I especially like them toasted. I would never choose to eat one as a side of a sandwich. Unless I was having a tuna sandwich, which I like on toasted bread.

In our house, the bread sack is lucky to get out with its life. If you bought a bag of bread, walked in the front door and straight out the back door, that sack would be totally empty. And yes, somebody would eat that last piece of bread.

I'm laughing, as your house sounds just like mine. At least we have children that want to eat nice bread

Though I am known for my love for bread, my children inherited that love. Bread is on the endangered species list in our home.

It tastes different from other inner pieces. The two pieces though kept apart from others, when there is no stock, it is consumed with some difficulty. Otherwise it is not used.

when i don't have a choice and i am hungry, i force myself to eat the bottom piece of the bread. but i have a friend who loves to eat this part and she always save us from wasting it. she said that she love it's smell and she loves the taste. but as for me, i am not fond of eating it.

Yes we do eat the bottom piece of bread in our house. I am having a smile to myself as I haven't heard it called that before. I am english and we have always called the bottom bit the crust. My husband is from scotland and he always calls the crust the heel of the bread. I wonder what other names differnet people call the bottom slice? With five of us in the house we do tend to get through a loaf of bread a day so bread doesn't have time to go dry in our house.
