Google Is Being Sued Behind Youtube

I am not sure about the solution buddy, but I like to watch our cinema (tamil) songs in youtube. Movie trailors, friends' uploaded videos etc. its a great site.

I'm not surprised. I do think the Google corporation has done a very good job at keeping copyright off their pages. It is very hard, I would imagine, and lots of little things will always slip through the cracks. I don't like that copyright stuff isn't allowed...I even have broken the no copyright rule myself so far on my first video (copyrighted music) and while they may not do everything they can to get rid of the copyrighted material I believe they make a sufficient effort so that it is legal. Maybe they let some things slip through on purpose even, but they have, in my opinion, gone beyond their legal obligations. They are not responsible for what is posted, it is the users' files. I believe they should be left alone for the same reason programs like kazaa and limewire are allowed to still exist: it is the users material, they should not be responsible for it. However, because it is stored on their servers, they are unfortunately legally responsible....

I mostly watch music videos of amateur musicians. But I do enjoy watching video clips of shows that are no longer on the air.

My feelings are, if a show isn't on the air anymore and they aren't selling it as a boxed set, it should be allowed to be online and be watched. If I created the show, I would want people to watch it. Plenty of people saw it on TV for free before, why can't we see it for free now online? Either way, if it's off the air those who made it are no longer making money off it. Can't we at least enjoy it?

I doubt it'll happen, but if they decide to be very strict on video submissions, 99% of the videos will disappear, and that includes all the awesome music videos out there. I've made a ton of music videos, too!

Well I am rather torn. I love youtube. But I hate google. This is a company that is just too freakin powerful. Those that gripe about Wal-mart or "BigOIL" profits should take a look at Google. This is a company that has grown so huge, so quickly. They aren't like a GM or GE that has been around for years, had ups and downs, Has a huge network And Actually produces something tangible. google is just a couple of guys sitting on a mountain of cash. And their product is basically info and entertainment. Their delivery system was already set up,(phone lines). They have a policy in China of turning in Enemies of the State. Their next goal is storage of your Medical Records.
Anyway, As far as the copyright challenges are concerned. First, YT is a 4" wide screen FCOL. It's not like a Hi DEf Big Screen TV or even a regular TV and DVD. Most people would see a bit of a movie and go get the DVD. They should see it as Free Publicty, As long as the person posting the vid is not making money from it. Especially for stuff that has already been seen or that is very old. There are some vids that have scenes from a movie mashed with a popular song. They show creativity and if the person doing it is not after profit, I see no problem.
But then what do I know.
