How often do you have hot oil treatment on your hair?

Hi. I am wondering if anyone here have tried hot oil treatment and what do you think of this hair regiment. I would have liked to have hot oil treatment as often as I want to keep my long hair great but it's expensive if done professionally. So, I only do it maybe once a year at a salon. Though I have hot oil treatment at home and I use the brand called "Swallow" that I bought overseas on one of my trips. It's a pretty good brand and I have been using this for years. I started using this at home treatment when I noticed that my hair turned dry during winter months, maybe too much hot shower. After using this brand, my hair returns to normal and it looks healthier and glossier. The problem is I'm running out of cream, so I need a replacement for the meantime.
How about you...do you do hot oil at home or at the salon? How often? If at doing at home-treatment, what brand do you use?

I do hot oil my hair once a week. but I am not using the over the counter product. I usually use the home made one, and I think that it is much better because it only contains natural elements.
I am using coconut oil for my hair. and it was so nice to my hair. it makes my hair and scalp healthy, smooth, manageable, and free from tangle.
it wasn't expensive like the other hot oil products that you can buy over the counter. and I know that it is more safe. just try these treatment sometimes for you too see the good effects of it.

yeah, it was so effective and healthy too.
you can buy fresh coconut milk on the market, then you're the one who'll make the coconut oil out of it. just heat the coconut milk into a low fire, and let it until the oil comes out of it. and there you are, there's already an instant hot oil for your hair.

Based on your picture, looks like the coconut oil treatment is really effective. Unfortunately, I don't have access to fresh coconut oil. I only have canned coconut oil at the grocery store. Thanks for sharing your tip and keep that hair shining!

There is something much cheaper you can use and you can buy it at the grocery store, Hellman's mayo. I have used that for years, especially before getting a perm, and it works fantastic. Just wash your hair, apply the mayo, wrap your head in saran wrap or use a large plastic food bag for about an hour or so, then wash, rinse and use conditioner if you desire. I started doing that when I was getting 3 to 4 perms a year and my hairdresser suggested it because my hair was getting pretty dried out and starting to frizz. I haven't had a frizzy perm since. She also suggests it to her patrons who color their hair a lot.

Thanks for the cheaper alternative. I may try that when I don't have my commercial hot oil cream. I do have a bottle of Hellman's mayo. :)

Let me know if you liked it after you try it. According to my hairdresser it works better than the hot oil treatment and thats why she recommends it even though she was selling the hot oil treatment products at the time or could have made money giving them herself, she owned the shop.
