Mystery Window keeps opening please help! |
|
Starting today, I get a pop-up window telling me that the web page can not be displayed. There is no website address, it just shows todays date Sunday, June 01, 2008 up top in the frame part of the window. I am no anywhere near my computer when it happens. I can't close it, there is no "X", only the option to refresh the page, and I get the same results. I have to go through Task manager in order to close it. I just ran my virus scanner (AVG Paid version) as well as spybot, and spyware blaster, nothing has been found. I am running Vista (I know I know ) Any ideas as to what is causing this or how to find out what is opening this window?

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | Thank you, I will try that. In going deeper in task manager, I went to the process related to this window.. It is an HPSdpApp.exe file I will try what you suggested as well as posting the file in a tech support file as the user below you has suggested. Thanks again

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | I did as you suggested by going to the tech forums. It seems its an issue with HP's reminder system. Thank you for your help.

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | Thank you for your advise. I did find the culprit. It was an HP reminder message that has a problem. I deleted the registry key and so far so good, it seems to be working. I really appreciate your response

5. Angelwhispers (4595) | 2 years ago | Dizz it has to be some kind of mal ware...... Download super anti spyware. its a free program and will sometimes pick up what spybot misses. Also get AVG's free anti spyware and run that... I bet one of those 2 will pick it up. One program alone is not enough you need an arsenal of tools to pick up all that is malicious on the internet.

dizzblnd (1127) | 2 years ago | Thanks Angel. I have not hear of super antispyware before. I will find it and download it. I also have the AVG anti spyware. You are correct.. there are many of these needed to pick off the bad stuff the others may miss.
It turns out it was an error with HP's reminder system I found the registry key associated with it, deleted it and it seems to be working.
Off to find your wonderful program now. Thanks again!

6. owlwings (5809) | 1 year ago | Going on your information that this is an HPSdpApp.exe file, I came across this page:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00040841
Hope this helps! It looks as though it's probably a reminder window for the Easy Internet Sign-Up process (which came with your PC if it's an HP or Compaq) but it says it may happen with other software as well.
