I am a practical person and love to receive practical gifts but they must also be accompanied by the flowers or perfume or bathroom products too. Greedy no, but a balance of both is good for me. Ellie :D

There comes an age in every woman's life when she has ENOUGH practical things. Flowers would be nice and much more romatic at a time of life when ANY romance is a gift worth having.

I like the kind I can put into my garden the best. That way I have them year after year.

That is just common to us girls! LOL! I also don't appreciate when it will be too often thinking about the money plus my practicality side..LOL, but there are moments that I will also long fresh flowers and feel great when my husband will be sensitive enough to sense it!LOL! He does luckily!LOL!

right where they are from makes a difference. but once a long time ago i had complained about not ever getting flowers so my hubby knowing I loved to garden took our wheelbarrow to my moms house and came back pushing the wheel barrow plum full of margarite daisies so fresh and white and pretty plants I could transplant into my garden.

Wow, thats very sweet! Whats your secret? I've been complaining about not having any jewelry, so far none has shown up! I got a new wedding band with lots of diamonds for our anniversary seven years ago, I guess that was supposed to shut me up forever?

Even i love fresh flowers..only thing i do not like to spend too much on them bcoz they r perishable and finally u have to throw them..i am happy with may be 4-5 flower and a bunch of greens/fillers for my vase..when we just got married some friends of ours bought us an amazing Boquet of flowers it was 5 feet tall extremely beautiful and placed as a surprise for us in our apartment...it must have cost them a bomb getting that in fact later on they told me they were planning to buy me a mixer grinder but the guys suggested this huge bouquet and it costed as much...my heart ached at throwing that bouquet bcoz i felt so much of hard earned money has gone into it..i love flowers not very costly...

Fresh flowers are wonderful to get, they do them up so beautifully, but I think today people like to think more sensible and give you something they think you may need...I love getting flowers but Like you haven't got any for awhile...

I don't mind fresh flowers. I hate practical gifts. I can buy my dishes myself, I need some romance in my life. Yes, flowers, perfumes, nice dinner out, romantic gateway in Hawaii or Bahamas....am I dreaming or what?

Hi Patsie, For me, I much prefer to receive gifts that are practical and look nice. I much dislike it when people give me non-practical or deco items - especially the latter. It's like if I want to decorate my house, chances are everything would have been done and there won't be any extra space left. Anyway nowadays, I don't receive gifts anymore. Probably people have stopped liking me or they never did. We normally just buy one another meals for birthday where applicable.

lordwarwizard the birthday I remember themost was one' where my hubby took me out to eat at my favorite restaurant, made me order my favorite foods, then produced a bouquet of red roses.but the culminating glory was that our waitress came carryin a s mall cake iced and with candles and everyone around us chimed in to sing happy birthday to' you. I was so touched and a tad embarrassed at all the attention too.

there is nothing bad being romantic, i think ladies feels more of a woman when guys give them flowers. my wife has asthma and it triggers on pollen so i dont really give her flowers. i dont want her to get sick with a gift from me. i gave her only flowers twice. the first one was when we're still dating and that was the time she told me that she has asthma and the 2nd time is when she came home from working abroad but i made sure that the flowers are sealed in a box. har har har.

hi oh my yes flowers would really make her sick. and asthma is no picknic either so of course you would have to give her something not allergenic.

Maybe, but i understand where you're coming from. I remember years ago telling my spouse not to buy me things that everybody in the house gets to use, as a gift. Flowers will do nicely. It's just that once in awhile, throw practical to the wind and get me something personal.
