|  I must say our VP D1ck Cheney is one funny guy!

Here's an excerpt which pretty much sums up the incident:
Talking about his family roots and how he's distantly related to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, the vice president noted that he had Cheneys on both sides of his family.
"And we don't even live in West Virginia," Cheney quipped.
"You can say those things when you're not running for re-election."
I understand he's now apologized for this insensitive remark but if I were from West Virginia that apology wouldn't be good enough and I'd certainly remember that when I went into the voting booth even if Cheney's name isn't on the ballot! Any thoughts? I'd really like to hear from West Virginians on this!

| |  I'm not from West Virginia, I'm originally from the neighboring state of Maryland and I have family in West Virginia. I think Cheney's remarks were in very poor taste and that his apology, given through a spokesperson, was poor and did not do the job. I don't think it's fair to penalize any candidate for a remark made by someone else though. Obama has been dealing with that problem coming from his former church leader and a guest speaker.
On a side note, and I can do this because they're in Maryland, my step-granddaughter is dating my ex's niece so I've been having a bit of fun over what will happen to the family tree if they get married. My daughter will be her step-aunt and her cousin-in-law, my husband will be her grandfather and her step-uncle-in-law, I will be Zack's aunt and his step-grandmother-in-law...and on and on. Blended families can be such fun!

| | Here's a good one from my husband's side of the family. Read very closely, it can be quite confusing. It's the saga of the Hartmans, the Joneses and the Baers - oh, my! Here it is:
Two Jones brothers married two Baer sisters; another Baer sister married a Hartman (my husband's cousin) whose sister married another Jones brother.
So we have brothers who are also brothers-in-law and sisters who are also cousins - or something like that!

| | I think the worst part about Cheney saying something like that, then joking that he can say it since he's not running for reelection, is that he's still The Vice President, supposedly of the whole U.S. yet he can pick on a whole state like that. I must say, I don't like the personal attacks on anybody in politics, regardless of party, but Cheney is someone that I don't think is a very "nice" person, politics aside, I think he is Darth Vader!

| |  I'm sorry I don't care if he's joking or not, its not funny to joke about something like that, back in the slave days it was not uncommon for white men to have black mistresses.....
I am seriously considering NOT voting at all this year, I'm really sick of the crap of this election and its getting old real fast.
