1. dolce_vita78 (4432) | 1 year ago | I also have noticed this missbdoll. I do sell some stuffs over ebay and I have observed that there are less buyers nowadays. I think that more and more people prioritize the more important things in life. With prices increasing in most countries around the world, it is perfectly understandable.

2. luvstochat (6679) | 1 year ago | I hardly buy on ebay anymore as the prices on there just are not very good anymore. I used to be able to buy things on ebay alot cheaper than in the store but now they cost alot more and the shipping charges have become very high. That is probaly why alot of others have quit using ebay too.

3. creationsbyrobin (1771) | 1 year ago | I think auction listings have gone down, at least in the US. I've been seeing alot of "fixed-price" listings on Ebay and yesterday, I received a note with a link to a story on Yahoo(?) about auctions aren't as popular as 5-10 years ago. The jist of the story was that the days of the crazy bidding wars are over. Buyers are more computer savvy and they can easily check the value of an item. Rather than take a chance on bidding on auctions, buyers seem to be looking to buy the item in a fixed price listing, rather than take a chance in an auction.
I don't totally agree, as I still find some great bargains on Ebay auctions, but I agree that "the bloom is off the rose" when it comes to auctions. You must have the hot item to make good $$ in auctions, or you items may not even find a bidder. There are several new ways to make money with Ebay (and Australia is just one of the countries where there are money-making programs for buyers and sellers- check my profile for 2 FREE programs that I use to make money on EBAY- they both work and earn money!) I really do believe that fixed-price listings will be the way to go, unless you have "the HOT - must have item" and making money on Ebay with other companie's FREE programs can keep buying and selling on Ebay profitable.

creationsbyrobin (1771) | 1 year ago | My hubby just started selling a few things on Ebay in the last 2 weeks and he's found an tool that you can add to Ebay listings. It helps promote all your other Ebay listings and it's like a PTC site, but when a potential bidder clicks on the tool to look at another of your listings, you get paid for the click! He mentioned that using this tool, he's sold a few items that he had previously listed on Ebay that received zero bids. this time he listed them they each had a few bids and he sold them for more than he thought they'd sell for! Plus he had around 20 clicks from those auctions and made some money with them. He's waiting for me to stop myLotting so he can list some more items tonight!

6. highlyclever (370) | 1 year ago | I think that eBay is so huge that its hard to give a definitive answer to this question. In certain areas, I'm sure that eBay sales are down, and in others, they are booming. Many eBay businesses report a seasonal aspect to their sales - golf clubs sell better during certain times of the year than in others (who needs clubs in the winter?) - so I don't think that the changes (as drastic as they might be) are having that great of an impact, because of the huge market of customers that frequent eBay's site.

8. recycledgoth (6135) | 1 year ago | I think with the credit crunch beginning to bite harder and gas prices soaring, people don't have the spare money to buy on eBay these days. My sales have dropped off recently although I did wonder if it was due to people going on holiday.

9. doubloonie (306) | 1 year ago | I am not an ebay seller, however, I have bought things off of ebay. And lately, I've noticed that there aren't as many good deals as there used to be. Therefore, I don't buy as many things off ebay anymore. This is probably related to sellers having a harder time selling their products. Because if less people are buying, then sellers have to raise their prices to make a profit. Before, sellers could sell a huge quantity of items at blowout prices because people will snap it up, thus, the seller will still make money. Nowadays, that probably isn't the case. That's just my interpretation of what's happening.

| OOOOOHHHHH (1) | 2 months ago | I HATE EBAY! I sell on Ebay & it has become impossible to make a profit...or sometimes to even break even...
Buyers want GREAT Deals (Almost FREE) + Free Shipping, which they became accustomed to ever since Ebay offerred FREE S&H Promotion in which they offfered puny discounts to sellers who offerred free shipping. (Of course they aren't paying the shipping costs...but as a result, Buyers now expect FREE S&H)
You pay to list the item & if it doesn't sell you pay to list again & again & again. The final value fees are ridiculous...and often more than the item costs! If you add up all the listing fees, the final value fee, the Paypal fee & the shipping cost...it can easily be 35%-50% of the retail selling price.
If item doesn't sell...well you have to reduce your price, pay more listing fees & offer FREE S&H! Then you have to compete will sellers in China selling similiar items for one penny + FREE S&H!.
Ebay is great for buyers...but SUCKS for Sellers. I especially love putting up with crap from customers that paid one penny or 99 cents for an item.
Never before has there been a business which is so time consuming...to make NO MONEY! Sellers are Stupid. They spend a lot of time photographing, editing & uploading photos, creating listings, preparing shipments, answereing Ebay Buyer questions that don't buy. All very time consuming...just to sell a one dollar item? Ebay is laughing at all of us...all the way to their multi-million $$$ bank account
