What age is ok for kids to start wearing make up?

I think it is best to grew your child the way you were grew. Those girls that I know who depends on make up has to do it all their life. Because without it they are not beautiful. When you child is old enough and she want to do it then use your parenting skill and give the do's and don't's and then she will decide. I think it is too early to ask this question because maybe she will be the type who will never even want to wear lipstick. o.k.

i think its not a good idea about using make up earlier.if she is good looking no need make up!make up is only used for ugly ones!sorry but thats the fact!!! except if you are a hollywood star right?to dressed her is ok but make up NO!

I think 13 or 14 is a good age for girls to wear light colored makeup. Nothing drastic,though.

I think it's sad too.. kids should be kids for as long as they can! My grand daughter hates the new pants that "show your underwear" she says - those low pants that are in style now and they make that way even for young girls .. which show their butt crack when they sit down etc. Whole other topic I know, but(t) I couldn't resist.. My grand daughter age 9, said just today how boys pants aren't like that! Kind of observant, I thought!
- I let my daughter wear makeup as a toy at home, so when she got to be 13 or so (she's 25 now) it wouldn't be such a big deal. And it actually worked pretty well.. But she didn't wear it in public or to go visiting.. Just had a table and could play at it at home even when pretty young.. Then I guess I let her wear it when the other girls began to, about 14.. but she didn't go crazy with it.. and it wasn't being done as young as it is today!

I think about 2. LOL Just kidding. You are right girls are wearing make up at younger ages all the time. The problem is that no one shows them the proper way to wear it. I think it is ok if a Mom is playing with her daughter and puts a little make up on her as long as she makes her understand that this is just playing now and she doesn't wear it for real until age X. Let you fill in the X. Personally, I am a natural look kind of guy and am very much attracted to woman who do not wear make up and hide their natural beauty.

Hi cynddvs! I have been noticing that too in the young children here in our country nowadays too. I have seen shops selling makeups for kids that are hypo-allergenic and is compatible to sensitive young skin. My youngest niece who is 8 years old has been asking me to buy her makeup since she was 5 years old. The only makeup I have bought her is a lip gloss/shiner and eye makeup. Her father (my brother) allows her to play with it but not allows her to go out with makeup on. I guess, it is just normal for little girls to play with makeup but I don't like seeing them wearing it on the streets, in school or anywhere. I just wish children will grow up to be confident with their natural beauty. I just think that wearing makeup will just be appropriate on girls who are in their mid teens.

I think natural is the best way to be or as close to natural . I don't think there is anything wrong with starting when you are a freshmen in high school . Maybe a light gloss lipstick,light shimmery eye shadow, and one of those mirror powder puffs .

Good day.. really I don't know what age. it's scary to think that they're wearing it at a younger years. I remember during my teens and even at college most single ladies in my class didn't wore make-up, they just put on some face powder and light lipstick. For me when they become mature not in age but in the way they think but really I don't know. I'll let my wife decides on it.

my daughter (15) was in middle school (grade 8) before she started wearing makeup and my 11 year has absolutely no interest in make up at all - i didnt even buy either one of them the play make up (i think that is where it starts), all i have bought them (pre makeup) is lip gloss.
