Yesterday I went to the beach for the first time this year and made a common mistake that I think many of you have done once in your life. I allowed myself to get so comfortable that I fell asleep for 2 hours and needless to say I look like a tomatoe... I had on sunscreen, but since i fell asleep i did not reapply and if I tell you the pain I am in today, I can barely sit and stand. I had to come to work, but I am really hurting. Not to mention I am sooooooo worried about the skin damage I may have caused. I took a cool shower and loaded aloe on my body and today sprayed first aid sunburn spray which is soooooo greasy. I have been hearing so many things from others, like take an oatmeal bath, a milk bath, use vinegar... I don't what to do but I need to soothe the pain. What do you do when you have a bad burn?

I know how you feel! I was swimming yesterday and I have the worst sunburn today, I can hardly move! We've been using aloe, but nothing seems to help!!

Like you, I once fell asleep on a beach in Flordia. It was a cloudy day at Daytona and when I woke up it was still cloudy, but the damage was done. I returned home and we had a giant aloe plant growing in the yard. I broke off a large leaf and scraped off a bunch of the slimy aloe and kept putting on a fresh coat every hr. for at least 7 hrs. and no pain, I didn't even peel!!! It works wonders! Good Luck! tdemex

That is a phenomenal tip about the fresh aloe.
I've tried the aloe lotion they sell in stores and
haven't had any luck with it.
I will see if I can get an aloe plant.
Better safe than sorry!
Be well.

Oh no, I feel so bad for you! I am very fair complected and have had this happen. I have become much more careful since I had my daughter because I am more aware of her than I used to be of myself, but it still happens sometimes. I usually do what you are doing, cool showers, aloe gel and maybe some motrin. I have heard of those other things, but have never tried them. I hope you feel better soon.

I've always liked aloe the best but the most important thing is to keep the skin moist and hydrated. Drink a lot of fluids today, too, so your body will send extra fluids to the damaged cells.

A bad sunburn is the worse thing! I usually end up stripping in my kitchen crying for someone to spray me! I am a fan of johnson and johnson baby lotion bc it keeps your skin soft and it feels good putting it on... I am also an aloe person! Dont think Id want to lay in oatmeal or milk but if it works its better than that burn pain!
