What are you doing while your children are playing?

Whenever I have to do some chores, I make sure that my son plays somewhere near me. Where I can keep an eye on him. He likes to make a "little bridge" on our sofa and no matter how careful he is, he does slip sometimes. So, I never leave him to play on his own, unsupervised. Accidents happen all the time, especially in the least unlikely place.

So, I plan my chores with his playtime activities. When I need to be outside tending the garden, he comes with me, too. The work is much slower because I always need to see what he's doing and that interrupts my work. But his safety comes first before anything else.

Oh..i can never be careless when it comes to my daughter, she does play outside home with a neighbour child, but i make sure i hear her voice in the distant and once i lose track of her, i go there and make sure she is fine and ask her to be inside the gate and if it all she goes outside, i will not let her play anymore. she is just around 3, she knows her limits and since she does not want to be inside the house, she tends to be careful too

My Kate has a play room, and she loves it. A lot of times I have to go in there and sit, she does a little tot's version of a tea party, its so cute! But since she got a little cd player and a Backyardigans cd, she brings me in to turn it on, and says, "Go. Go, go, Mommy." and pushes me out the door. All of her craft stuff stays ing the livingroom, so she'll do that with me sometimes. My kitchen is open to my living room, so unless she's sleeping on in the play room, we're always together.

A coupel of weeks ago, she was in the baby pool and I'd forgotten to bring out essential things, like a clean diaper, toys, towels, all that. I had to leave her out for two seconds for each run, and freaked out every time. No matter that I could see her the whole time, I just imagined someone noticing me running in and out of the house and waiting for an oppertunity to grab her. So scary! I couldn't handle it!

If my children are playing indoors (they are 4 and 2) then im either in here with them or somewhere in the house doing jobs. If they are outside playing im either out there with them sometimes playing or ust relaxing with a book but always there watching maybe doing some gardening, or if its time to cook dinner I will be in the kitchen doing the dinner as I can see them from the kitchen window and leave the back door open so I can hear them.

Our whole garden is enclosed and two locked gates so they are very safe (as they can be anyway in this day and age) I prefer not to sit indoors and leave them alone as I worry always that someone will get int he garden no matter how safe it is
