Okay last week I was shopping in a store, this is part of my job. I slipped and herniated 2 discs. Since I was working I had to file for workers comp,There is a third party which is the store I slipped in. I absolutely adore my job and I am wondering if I go after damages and pain and suffering can they fire me?
I think the world of the individuals I take care of and worry about them lots if I am not there. Where will I be left?

I would say legally NO they can't fire you but they may just as well because usually what happenes is they make it a very unhappy work place and in most cases they make it so miserable for you that you'll pack it in anyway. Just my opinion. If they're any kind of a decent work place they should compensate some of your hours or whatever.

Your main concern needs to be your future health after this injury. Is surgery indicated or simply rest? A herniated disc can cause problems for a long time *or* it can return to it's normal position and you will be fine but you have to be sure. Let workers comp take care of it and file for whatever they say you should file for. You job can't legally hold it against you but who knows if they'll try to? Do what you have to do in order to secure your future depending on your prognosis for recovery.
