Catherine Tate Doctor Who Sidekick- Good or Bad?

It seems to be a hotly debated topic, is Catherine Tate good as Donna in Doctor Who or not. I think she plays it well good at the comedy as well as the serios parts, but others seem to disagree, what do you think?

i agree with you, she's meant to play a slightly more comedic companion than we've seen before and she does the role wonderfully. Part of the reason that I think some people prefer Martha or Rose to her is just because she's such a different sidekick in Doctor Who, because we're so used to the more serious, slightly more kick-butts-and-take-names types, that we lose appreciation for a new and unique concept for a character!

I agree with you, i think some people do not like a quirky sidekick as they think that should be the doctor, but both can be. I think the sidekicks in the older ones didnt do quite as much either.

I liked her. She was tough, intelligent, down to earth, and she made a pleasant change from the recent trend for companions to be romantically-obsessed with the Doctor. I also thought it was a nice touch to have Bernard Cribbins playing her grandfather, especially in the dalek story.
