Everybody Poops?? |
|
Ok ladies this may be a little too much TMI, but I'd like to know how many of you have had experienced the worst fear I have...pooping while delivering your child. I'm due to give birth in 2 weeks and I think I'm more worried about this than some of the other, more painful aspects of childbirth. It may sound petty or childish but I would be very embarrased. I've already been reassured by my doctor that it happens all the time, but I'd like to hear your real life experiences and if it was truly as mortifying as I imagine it to be.

2. travibabiesgirl (990) | 2 years ago | congrats on your up coming bundle of joy. I did not poop during delivery but then again I stay constipated so maybe I could not have even if I had wanted to lol. Try not to worry to much about it because I am sure that if it happens the doctors and nurses have seen it all. Once your new baby is in your arms you probably won't give any mishaps to much thought any way. The most embarrassing thing that happened to me was having to pee in a bed pan and it almost over flowing because no one would dump it for me and I could not hold it until someone did so it almost over flowed. I was not a happy camper with my husband at that time because he would not help me out. Once my baby was there it was no longer important to me what had happened earlier in the delivery room. Best wishes to you and your soon to be new arrival.

3. ravinskye (6241) | 2 years ago | as far as i know i didn't. if i did i was numb from the epidural and didn't feel it happen. either way i wouldn't worry about it. and while you are giving birth you won't be thinking about it anyways. trust me, when labor starts all your thoughts will go to getting that baby out of you.

4. Marleysa (2936) | 2 years ago | HAHAHAHAHA.. No, my dear, you do not "poop" while giving birth at all:) Before giving birth you will have what they call an "enema", the nurse pushes her hand up and a plastic pipe and they "wash" you out, which is to ensure that you do not do that while giving birth:) I gave birth 4 times and hated that..it isn't painful, just damn embarrassing but then I was grateful afterwards..meant i did not need to "fear" that I will poop anymore..lol..
Quoted from wiseguy.com: "An enema is procedure used for clearing the bowel and colon of fecal matter. The enema introduces liquid, usually water and sodium bicarbonate or sodium phosphate, by means of a bulb or enema bag, into the anus and thus to the bowel and colon. This tends to stimulate the bowel to release fecal matter." - unquoted

mimico (3257) | 2 years ago | Thanks for sharing this information with us, For a while I was scared that I could pop while giving birth! Even though I have other things to worry about as the other myLotters wrote, it would still seem kind of gross that poop would come out together with my baby. I know that poop and the baby pass through different holes, but it would end up on the same place anyway.

poormomof4 (466) | 2 years ago | I have 4 children. i was never given an enama. Nor did I have any accidents. Sometimes women do poop, but the doctors and nurses have seen it all before. It won't gross them out and they won't think any less of you. just relax and don't worry about it.

5. rantingqueen (440) | 2 years ago | I wish you could hear me chuckling and commiserating with you at the same time. I have had this experience, and believe me when I say...
You won't even know you did it!
It is a natural occurrence to pushing as hard as we must to give birth to our children. No one in the delivery room will notice, comment or cause you to feel embarrassment in anyway.
Most of all, you will be so happy and feel so blessed by the birth of your child, that it won't even be a thought on your mind at that time in your life.
Stop worrying:) It will all be okay!

| 6. eleache (42) | 2 years ago | Congrats sweetie!!!
I pooped while giving birth to my son...It happens...how could it not, you are pushing soo hard to get that baby out of you...but when the time comes trust me, you wont even care...and you wont even know. The only thing you will be concerned about is getting the baby out..that is all you want to do. It was my first, and I had mixed emotions of wonderment, and fear of something bad going on....like a cesarean... not saying anything is wrong with that, but me personally I did everything in my power not to have a cesarean, and didn't, I ended up going all the way fully natural. But I will have to admit, that, that is only because the 4 times the anesthesiologist attempted to administer an epidural it didn't work, and he even tried to do a spinal tap on me, which didn't work either only because I have a vast amount of scar tissue in my back from surgery because of my scoliosis. So it was all natural baby.... and you feel nothing when the delivery process begins, cept the contractions, but when it gets to that point...you will love the contractions cuz they help you, they really do...so feeling everything is a totally different experience, cept when the doctor sews you back up from the episiotomy..ugh...that is the only thing that really hurt after the contractions. I didnt even feel the dr cut me. So it is true you really dont feel anything cuz your body naturally goes numb from the waist down during delivery...

| wahm805 (71) | 2 years ago | My goal is to NOT have a c-section also. I'm not against it either but after seeing my aunt and sister deal with the pain of the aftermath of c-sections, I've been determined to do as much as possible to have her vaginally! Thanks for all of the input and the congrats!! I'm shocked at how many replies I've gotten to this post! Thank you all!!

10. TessWhite (2028) | 2 years ago | Hmmmm, don't they still give enemas prior to birth? I know they did with me. I still managed to wet the bed when the baby pressed on my bladder during birth though. Not much you can do about it when you aren't able to control such things.
