LOL poor Mare...yes my girlie got hers but not until she was 12 and no I didnt freak out..I was actually happy LOL but sad cause my baby girl is growing up ya know....same with the shaving, bra shopping etc etc..I think the reason I wasnt freaked is because a couple of her cousins started quite young, one of them as young as 8 yrs old actually..

I guess the hardest part for me is that she is such a tomboy! I had to tell her this morning to take a shower and she was like a shower? Why? URG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to choke her!

Wow---ten years old, Mare! They seem to be getting younger and younger. Poor thing, so young to have to start dealing with that so soon. But I am sure you will help her out just fine and help her to feel comfortable with it. I was 14 when I finally got 'the visit'. I thought it would never happen, as all my friends talked about it ALOT. My own two daughters were 13-14 when it happened. My younger daughter was pregnant at 15 dispite ALL of our wonderful talks about the 'birds and the bees'. What are ya gonna do, except go with the 'flo'?

I was 10 when I got mine. I had an older sister, so I knew about it. My mom never liked to talk about things like that. My daughter is only 1, so I have a long time before I need to worry about that.

It can happen even earlier than that. My daughter is almost 5. SO I have a bit of a while before I have to worry about her. But my niece was 13. Try not to let her see you freak out. It is a normal body function. And you may not be ready, but her body is. Just stay calm and look at it as a new stage in her life. Try and be open to it. My mom was open to the communication. Her mom wasn't. Take a deep breath. Calm down. It will be ok.
