Do you Feed Wild Birds even in the Summertime?  

yes i feed them year round i just enjoy watchi g the birds at the feeders and the different kinds.

My mum feeds all the birds, and the squirrels all year round.

The squirrels have HER trained. They sit out on the back fence by the door and squawk at her and she goes "OH, I'M SORRY! I'M COMING!" and takes food out for them.

It's really funny to watch. They're not afraid of us at all.

I have 2 bird feeders in my yard and keep them filled 12 months a year. I love to watch them as they come in for their meals. I also have a large concrete birdbath/fountain which I keep covered during the winter to protect the concrete from cracking when freezing. The birds can't wait till spring when their pool opens for the summer. lol
In the spring there are so many babies at the feeders that sometimes it's hard to keep up with them keeping seeds in there.

I feed birds all the time, even crows need to eat.

I feed them when ever I remember, if I leave it to long they are out there complaining? Its much quieter when they are munching. lol I have a bird bath and they love that?

Hello momalisa, I am also feeding the wild birds during summer, usually our old rice since I am cooking rice often..and I love to watch them eating and having fun...It will amaze me sometimes since no matter how many I will put outside, it will take only a few minutes for them to eat it all..LOL!

When I was a little girl we had both a feeder and a bath for the birds and I enjoyed it very much. My family used to fill them year round . I think it is easier and safer for the birds. My fiance gram feeds them too but not bird seed . She actually will feed them cake and they seem to love it .

We feed the birds in our neighborhood and its wierd that they come and look at us through the window in our house during the day. Its like the birds are saying i'm ready for you to feed me. I did not know they were smart enough to do this.

Your mother is right. They should find food during the summer. If you feed them during the summer, they will loose their ability to survive.
Birds and other animals can easy become dependent of food you are leaving for them.
It is not about spoiling. They are much better without your help. I would have only water available for birds to drink.
I am feeding birds only during cold season.

Yeah I do but it seems to be only the pigeons and doves that bother with it. I had a nesting starling in the roof a few months ago that seemed to find it helpful but they left now. Or the cat got 'em. :/
