I only ever boil broccoli. How else can I cook it? Sometimes it goes off in the fridge as I haven't had time to use it. I am also growing some in my garden so it would be nice to cook it other than boiling it?

I like it steamed. It is really good. My sister tried to cook broccoli soup and it was also good. If I'm not in the mood to cook, I will mix it raw with the other vegetables and make a vegetable salad.

I like broccoli, I have found you can use it in most meals, from stews to soups. Stir-fried or in the oven, I make the following recipe, but generally do not use the cheese because not everyone likes the cheese but it is quite tasty http://www.amateurgourmet.com/2008/11/the_best_brocco.html Since you are growing your own, you could also use the leaves, but this is where opinions differ greatly form terrible to delicious. It probably depends on the person, but I have friends that use it like cabbage in their soups, other saute the young leaves but never tried it myself so can't say how good they are. Have fun trying out new recipes.

I think our taste buds change as we get older, things I would try and avoid as a child, like greens are what I actually prefer now, so with time they may come to enjoy it too.

I have also used the leaves in soups and salads. I like it, the children not so much

Our taste buds do change as we get older, when I was in my teens I used to love a mars bar for breakie, lunch and tea instead of a roast diner etc, now I would chose a roast dinner!

Hi Anne, My husband and I mixed it with our salad, eating it raw with some ranch dressing. Then sometimes, when I am making some Noodles, I will saute it with the other vegetable and shrimps then mix the noodles!

Raw is good, i tend to eat some of it raw when I'm cutting it up for the saucepan.

Break it up into florets and part-cook it by boiling it in abundant salted water. Then add short pasta to the saucepan and let the pasta cook until it is al dente. Then drain both pasta a broccoli together. Put the mixture back in the saucepan and add a dash of olive oil and some grated cheese and serve. Nutricious and warming during the winter months.

I eat it raw or lightly steamed, myself. I can't stand boiled broccoli! It's also good lightly sauteed in stirfries or used in casseroles. If I'm having it lighly steamed (to the point where it's bright green, not dark and limp), I usually eat it with a bit of salt and nothing else. If it's raw, sometimes I'll have it with a bit of ranch or Italian dressing.

Raw is good with a dip A lot of you talk about steaming, I will have to invest in a steamer. Thanks, any other ideas or recipes I could put it in, have been using it in my homemade soups

I enjoy broccoli lightly steamed. Don't like it overcooked. I will also stir fry it in with other veggies or chicken/meats with Soy Sauce. I occasionally like it mixed in with rice. You can add to rice a few minutes before it is finally cooked. Cream of broccoli soup is delicious and so is broccoli with cheese, but those are quite fattening. I also enjoy eating broccoli raw in salad or with some ranch sauce. But steamed is my favorite. I add a little olive oil.

I like broccoli casseroles. Another way I like it is with a white sauce. 1 tablespoon butter or marg. 1 tablespoon flour. melt butter, add flour and let it cook a few minutes. Add one cup of milk and let it come to an easy boil, throw in some cheese, let it melt then pour it over the steamed broccoli. You don't have to add cheese, but it makes a nice change.

I also like to make my own sauces, they are so much better for you than packet ones.
