do you think the movie Titanic trivialized the actual event? |
|
The hollywood version of the event is ok (not all that correct in their details) but as a hollywood fluff story, it fits the bill.
but do you think that this movie trivializes what actually happened on the ship? afterall, over 1,500 people lost their lives on that fateful night...thoughts?

I loved the movie
but realized that it was
fiction! I think the scenes
of the bodies in the water
and how few got in the life boats
made it pretty clear how severe
the loss was.

4. katsmeow1213 (4876) | 1 year ago | Not at all! I do realize the love story and all that was made up, but the rest was rather true to the event. Someone of my generation had known very little about the actual event due to how long ago it was. Prior to the movie I had heard of the Titanic, and knew the basics, but seeing the story in that light gave me a lot more information that I had known, and I appreciated what those people must have really gone through.

6. ShepherdSpy (2467) | 1 year ago | The Movie's running time was some 3 hours..the Titanic's Maiden Voyage Ended during the night of it's 5th day. There's no way a Filmmaker could do justice to the 1500+ Victims individually, even if the Movie was filmed in real time for the duration of the tragically ended voyage.(as I recall, the "Sinking" DID take place in real time.).Therefore,some real life events became composites, some fictional ones were created,Artistic License was taken with characters..And besides,no-one now knows for sure what happened aboard when the last lifeboat got clear without a full complement and those left behind without even a lifejacket went down with the Ship..The Movie Wove the story of a dive on the wreck (with real footage) into a Flashback Love Story involving a Survivor and a Victim..It doesn't get much more poignant or gripping than that. A Romance, and a tragedy.. At the very least,People will be more aware of the Centenary of the Sinking, come April 15th,2012..
