What is the importance of reading? Definitely a million reasons why it is so precious. Through reading we learned different things as the time goes by. You will encounter different words and apply it in your daily lives. For me, reading makes us fascinate! Why? Because as you read novels and any stories that you are interested, it seems that you become one the characters for you really feel the story. another thing is the knowledge. If you read books like science, history, geography, you will gain everything. That is the power of reading! It makes us happy and enjoy the life to the fullest. And at the same time you earn knowledge and share it with your friends. It makes us updated for all the things which are happening today. Be involved! Read newspapers and magazines that would make your linguistic talent much stronger! Besides you can be an author someday! It makes your career a better profession!

When i was young i just read about all kinds of things, fiction and non-fiction without realising that i was educating myself. I just read them because i found it enjoyable. I learnt myself to read when i was about 4 and by the time i turned 8 i was reading the grownup books my mum read. My mum likes science fiction and detective a lot, so i've read a lot about that too. Sadly enough around age of 12 i stopped reading, just because i was dissappointed in a lot of things. Now i really have to put myself to the task. I still read one book every 2 weeks sometimes a bit more. But now i understand that reading can make you stronger, it seems more as a task then something i just enjoy doing. It's a pitty and i surely hope i can change my attitude about it.

Reading allows each reader to make "mental movies" according to his own interpretations, background, and dreams, etc. If we get lazy and watch the film made based on the book, we lose that beautiful experience. All we get is the director's interpretation, without ourselves being in there anywhere! Reading allows us to become part of the story. It's truly a joy!

You are right, there are many different reasons for reading books. I read for knowledge and for information, but I also read to travel and experience different ways of life in my imagination. I like to read about places and past times in travel writing and history books, but I can also read fiction and find myself in many different lands, real or imaginary, in the past, the present or in the future. I can get to know characters who are unlike anyone I have met in my real life, or I can identify myself with a character in a book. I can get to know other people and find out about their lives, by reading biographies. I agree that reading does help in writing, and in understanding the use of language.
