How to deal grown up kids?

i am a single mother and i have a 12 year old son and i tell my son to get of my knee he is to heavy for me now but he says he loves me that is good but he is just to heavy my daughter does it too but she is lighter she gives me kisses and she says she loves me but my son does not kiss me just hug take care

Its hard to let them grow up isn't it?I didnt have any boys until my grandson came along and he just turned 10 he is being the same way with the kisses and hugs,its fine if its me but he shakes hands with his papa because he thinks boys should kiss boys Ha Ha so we just do it his way. Tell your husband to feel proud at having a growing up son'
of eleven and have him offer to shake hands instead, man to
man.Just treat your son same as aways but respect that he
feels too old to hugged. sooner or later he will want one last
hug when something goes wrong in his little world.

It is very hard to watch your babies growing up and yet helping them to do so and making them independent is part of our job. My boys are 12, 15 and 17 and ALL of them still tell me when they are in bed to be tucked in and to have a goodnight hug and peck on the forehead. They still give me a hug before they go out the door in the morning, though the hug from my eldest has turned into more like a pat on the back. They shake hands rather than hug their grandfather so I think it is a male thing because they know that most men do not hug their friends and they are, after all, learning to be men. Unfortunately, I think your husband just has to accept it.
