Here's me venting

We are very active in community outreaches with our church. Our oldest son is very talented and jumps in to help. However last week he made a commitment to the pastor that he would do a certain activity with the young children and then backed out. So I stepped in and did it so the little ones wouldn't have to give up the fun.
Well he was approached again by the pastor wanting him to lead worship for our summer camp. He said yes but my concern is that he'll back out at the last minute. Should I tell him he can't do it? Or should I step back and see how it works out.
Help please

I would wait and see what happens. If he does back out tell him how disappointed you are in him making commitments and not keeping them. Remind him of this one that he didn't keep. Ask him why he keeps making commitments if he isn't going to see them through.

IF he's old enough to make a commitment he's old enough to see it through. Its time his mother allowed him to take responsibility for his actions. You are not helping him by jumping into his decisions. Its not your responsibility to run his life for him. Stand back and let him grow up.

Let him have a try, his own life should been gone by himself in despite of success or failure!
