New Best Response Feature?

I just thought I'd put this idea out there to find out what the rest of you think of it. I've been tossing around the idea that it would add a new dimension to the whole best response feature if we also could discuss our reson for whom we awarded the best response to. It could be optional(for those who didn't wish to). I'd like to know how you all would feel about such an idea. I sometimes feel that it isn't enough to just give out the br because some of the responses are so deep that I really would like to explain how I arrived at my decision.

Don't really know if I would use the addional feature. I have had a few discussions where only one person responded and it was a "given" as to who would receive the best response. If you present this option to myLot, feel privileged if they answer you. I haven't had good luck in the past. Maybe if I change my name to Einsteincarolbee it would warrant their taking the time to respond to my question(s).

That is a good point. Maybe the option to mark best response would only appear if there are, say, a minimum of 5 responses. Granted the best response may very well be the 1st response, but it shouldn't be the only response.

That's a good one, carolbee!
As I said though, it would only be an option for those who wished to use the feature.

Yes, that would be a good idea.. Because sometimes on my discussion, I select best response, because they made a really good point.. Then later, I end up reading more discussions, and there would be another response, that I have liked even better. So now, I have two choices on which one to choose from.

As someone who is often faced with the same dilemma, cream, I know exactly how you feel when this happens. Sometimes I find that 90% of the responses I get are nearly perfect.

I don't mind taking a little more time, subha, when it's regarding something that means anything to me.

You can ask the best response giver already. I don't know about you but whenever I get the best response, I always say thank you.So you can ask th giver in a new comment.
For me, I give the best response only on certain posts. And the reason for best response? Simple. It is the best written. It is powerful and I just know that no one could respond to my post any better. And they don't have to agree with me.

Oh. Well I have posted some discussions where I never expected to pick a best response. And then I have a few where two posts were equally great and I couldn't choose.

While I agree with most of your points, sarah, personally I don't feel that my discussion is truly over until I give a BR. If I only receive one response, so much the better because I don't have to go to much trouble.

I like the idea. When I handle my unresolved discussions, I spend time reading and thinking about the responses. When I have a discussion with a lot of responses, it involves quite a bit and it would be nice to let the person know why I wanted their response listed as BR and I didn't pick it randomly. Also, I bet a lot of the folks would get a big kick out of reading why they were chosen.

I already had you pegged, whittby, as someone who devotes time and effort to their discussions and responses. That goes a long way with me because I was taught that anything you do is worth doing well. I know that with some here it is just Get in, make money, and get out, but I wanted my experience here at myLot to mean something more-and it has.

It seems like a good idea but I would not do it myself. You could add your comments to explain why you gave the Best Response the way you did. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I believe that everyone does his or her best and in some ways, everyone deserves a best response and I am sure they have a number of that under their belt. Cheers!!

On the contrary, underdogtoo, not everyone earns or deserves a BR. You cannot have read very many of them if you truly feel this way. I won't lie and say that I believe everyone does their best when it is patently not true.

It would be your choice, jer, to use it or not use it. I just don't find a lot of real "discussions" going on here.
