What makes your shoes squeek and how do you stop it?

I bought a pair of basic black slip on shoes with about a two inch heel and for some reason these things squeek at work. But, only in part of the office. The floor in my office is wood so no squeeking but let me walk out on the linoleum tile and squeek...squeek... It seems to be coming from the bottom of the heel. Any suggestions other than taking them back or running over them with my truck?

Maybe it's because they're new? I've had new sneakers that were kind of slippery when I first walked in them. Try running over them with your truck, lol, then see what happens. Seriously though I don't know. Keep wearing them to break them in or something. Maybe in a few weeks it will go away.

Ok, I picked "keep wearing them" over running them over with my truck! I don't think they'd look too good after that. I have noticed, by the way, that mine aren't the only shoes that squeek in the office so I don't feel so weird.

Try sanding them, not like you can really do that at work right now. Taking them back doesnt help because then you will have to go thru the hassle of trying to find another pair. running them over with your truck wont work cause then you wone have them to wear or be able to return them or exchange them lol or go to a sidewalk and scrape the heal on the sidewalk maybe its the material the heel is made out of.

Good idea, I'm going to go outside in a minute for a smoke and I'll scrape them on the ground in the parking lot. I have the worst luck with shoes...no wonder I wear the same style for five years once I find something I like. Thanks!
