I use a multiple of things to cover or wrap my freezer foods in I love press and seal it works great and I also use freezer bags. So what do you use and why do you choose it to store your freezer foods in. Do you worry about freezer burn? Do you toss the food away if it has freezer burn on it or cut away the bad and use the rest? I usually end up tossing it because I never want to take the chance of getting sick. What is in your freezer right now? I have a few steaks, roast, couple pound rolls of beef,Salmon filet,a bag of birds eye steamers, corn on the cob, frozen green beans, hot dogs and popsicles. I also usully double bag meats and veggies to ward off freezer burn. What is your favorite? Saran wrap, press n seal, butchers paper, foil, baggies,or plastic containers?

I use freezer bags from the local dollar store. I have found that they preserve food just as good as the the name brand freezer bags. I believe the key to preventing freezer burn is squeezing as much air out of the bag as possible before putting it in the freeze. In many cases I put the freezer bag inside of the plastic bag you get when you buy your groceries. If I do somehow find some food that has been freezer burned I throw it away. Right now I have chicken, fish, ice creams, Italian Ice, corn on the cob, pork ribs, beef stakes, waffles and more in the freezer. I also use plastic containers for leftovers and some liquid items I like to freeze. I bought one of the sealing machines but didn't like how it performed and sent it back. It just didn't seal air-tight enough for me and the bags didn't hold enough food. Lloyd

Thank you very much for the Best Response. Isn't it funny how some old discussions appear out of nowhere. It reminds me that there was once a time here at myLot where politics wasn't such a heated topic. I'm still using my methods for preserving food and preventing freezer burns. I grew a lot of vegetables in my garden this summer, so I've had to freeze a lot of tomatoes, squash, collards and other foods. I use the tomatoes for cooking purposes. Lloyd

If it's something I'm going to use within the week I just put it in the freezer as is. If I don't know when I'm going to use it I use my vacuum thing, you know the thing that vacuum seals it. Right now I have a little of everything in my freezer. We've been putting up vegtables every other day from our garden.

Hey that is great! I have a bag sealer but it doens't vaccum seal. I would love one of those though. Mmm! just think how good those veggies are going to taste this winter. That vaccum seal keeps them real fresh. Thanks for responding to my discussion I appreciate it SusanLee.

I use Suran Wrap. Then when the food is covered, I put it in a plastic grocery bag for extra protection.

Thanks ersmommy1 for visiting my post. Even though I might use other things I also put them in plastic store bags for extra protection. Have a good day.

I love press and seal. It can be expensive at some places but totally worth it.

when i freeze baked goods (cookies, muffins, bread, etc) i just throw them into a ziploc freezer bag. i squeeze out as much of the air as possible before closing the bag completely. as for meat, i wrap it in butcher paper and then put it in a ziploc freezer bag and squeeze out as much of the air as possible before closing the bag completely.
