Boil the milk. In a pan take a little ghee and fry cashewnuts, moong dal, poppy seeds and grated carrot, adding one after the other. Now add a little milk and let the mixture boil. Add the remaining milk and once again bring it to boil. Now add sugar, stir for two minutes and remove from fire. Add dry grated coconut and elaichi. Nav ratna payasam is ready to serve.

What is this? is this a dessert? The moong dal, is it in powdered form. I have eaten an indian dessert which was very nice but I understand they used powdered milk.I like to try your recipe but you didn't give the measurement. Is your cashewnuts pounded or in whole?

Moong dal not powdered no please. and milk also not powder, well if you have no choice then manage with powder.
And the ingredients are:
milk:1 ltr.
carrot :grated one cup
Moong dal :1 cup
coconut :grated one cup (manage with dry coconut also)
poppy seeds :1 tsp.
sugar : 2 cups.
Elaichi : 1 tsp
Ghee : 2 tsp.
cashewnuts : 10 nos. can be pounded.

I have tried it at my friends house. I like it,though I do not like sweet dishes very much.Thanks for the whole recipe.
