It Feels Dang Good To Be Home!!!! |
| |
| Today Mom and I went out in search of coffee and other things. We found ourselves at the groccery store. Walking down the aisles I spotted a Canadian flag. I moved closer to it and there was a whole display bin full of Canada-Day items; decorations, flags, stickers, hats, lawn chairs, car flags, table flags, all kinds of CANADA STUFF!!! I've just returned from spending a half a year in the USA, so you can understand why, when I saw that glorious Canada stuf, I wanted to jump into the display bin and play with it all, the way a little kid would jump into a play-pit full of colourful balls. I bought a nice big armload of the stuff in the bin, for Canada Day. Anyone else ever been this excited upon seeing a bin full of Canadian stuff? | | | | | |

| | Now if it were coming up on Victory Day (May 9), or International Worker's day (May 1), I could get excited about a barrel of Russian flags. | | | | | | |

| | hello, that is great to hear that you found some stuff that reminds you of home. i know exactly what it feels like and i can understand the need to jump for joy LOL i cannot relate with the canadian stuff but like i said i can relate bout the missing home part. we live in china for 4 years and i only got home twice (once in two years) and whenever i see stuff that is a local from home i am way too excited and willing to buy it even if i know the cost of it is like triple the price if i buy it at home BUT heck, i feel happy and it satisfies my needs of wanting to be home so i am buying it LOL are you living with your mom during your stay here? it is nice that you spend time with her, i am excited to see my mom on november and my sister and her hubby on december, havent seen them for more than a year so that is a wonderful one. anyway, hope you remember the shop so you can go there whenever you miss home. have a good one! | | | | | | |

| | I am drawn towards the clothing displays in Zellers and The Bay, although some of the Olympic stuff is a little weird. We'll be seeing a lot of Canada products in the stores for the next two years when the Winter Olympics come to Canada in 2010. They sure do get a hard start on things, don't they? Well, I guess it's all about the money, right? Of course, Canada Day itself is right around the corner, hence the flags and stuff. But I find these things (chairs, decorations, hats, flags, etc.) are around all the time now. Canadians have been coming on proud and strong and really want to show it. Cheers my fellow Canadian! | | | | | | |

| | This is a different kind of response that doesn't have to do with Canadian things but I am getting a box of things together to send to a young friend in Zimbabwe, Africa, whose family always is excited to get things from the USA. As I was packing some of the things that I had purchased for her, I noticed that they were mostly "made in China"! What kind of "excited" is that going to be for her, I am wondering?? | | | | | | |
