Church or Civil Wedding?

A friend is asking for my advice if it is practical to go for a church wedding nowadays. In a man's point of view (especially if he is paying), it is better to have a civil wedding to keep expenses at a minimum. But of course we have to be aware of the women's perspective. It is known that almost all ladies out there would prefer walking down the aisle, right?
I am now reluctant to give my friend my two cents. Can you help me justify which to advise.

I never had a big wedding and have always regretted not doing so. I got married civilly and then later had my marriage blessed in the Church. I would say it is better to go with the Church wedding but it all depends on the person. For the man it is not so important but girls dream of their perfect wedding day. It is really hard to give advice about this as it is a personal decision.

Wont the couple sit down and make a list of the pros and cons of haveing a civil and church wedding. But, healso has to think of his furture wife and how she feels about it.

why dont they go to the justice of the peace then have a celebration or party afterwards that way they still get to celebrate with family and friends but it would cut cost a lot
