Well I have a lot of little things that I do when I get nervous or when I am stressed about something. I still have my ring from my eight grade graduation and I start turning it around on my finger. My feet also starts going up and down. And I also start bitting my lip and sometimes skin comes off. It might sound nasty but I can't help it. I do these things when I'm realy nervous or when I'm stressed about something or really concentrated on something.
What do you guys do?

hi ayumi-chan!
you bite your lip until the skin comes off?? ouch! that hurts. i'm glad i don't have a habit like that. i don't have any notable habits when i'm nervous. when i'm nervous and talking, i give an uneasy laugh. when i attended a training on project proposal preparation, we had to present our project proposals at the end of the training. when it was my turn, i couldn't help but give a nervous chuckle once in a while making my presentation very informal. one of the audiences, my co-trainee, told me that i should eliminate that habit because its not good especially during presentations. i told him i couldn't help it because that's how i am when i'm nervous. and i had the liberty to chuckle every now and then because the presentation wasn't THAT formal anyway. but during very formal presentations, i don't chuckle nervously but i do get mental blocks once in a while. i would forget to say some points and at the end i'd be disappointed because the presentation didn't turn out the way i wanted it to be.
so anyway, another thing i do when i'm nervous is i talk. i talk a lot. stupid talk. and i sometimes stammer too. its very embarrassing but that's how i cope with nervousness. ^__^;;

LOL. I've seen people that laught like that and you can tell they are nervous. Mental blocks are bad! That is just the worst thing to happen during a presentation. There have been a few times when I would talk to a guy or something and it's like I have no idea what I'm talking about. I stammer a bit and then can't find the right words. But the thing about biting my lip it doesn't really hurt that much though.

I guess many of us have bad habits when ever we feel nervous. For me, I think I snack mindlessly when I feel edgy. Or, I might just perch on the sofa and stay on the computer for hours, rather than try to get chores done.
When I'm stressed out, I find it difficult to get my mind off of the subject that is troubling me. Usually, exercising--walking on the treadmill, taking a walk outdoors, or going for a swim helpsme get out some of that excess energy, so I can relax again.

Yeah I forgot to add that too. I'm also an emotional eater so when I get nervous I start snacking too. I have a treadmill and I love walking on it because like you said it takes away the stress. But it doesn't take away my energy, in fact when I walk I get more energized and I feel good.

When I am nervous, I always feel like I want to pee then butterflies are flying in my stomach....I also find myself stamping my feet a lot and walking back and forth!

Your like the other poster here. I only stomp my feet when I have to pee really badly and can't because there is already someone in the bathroom.

When i am nervous i find that i am constanly up and down the stairs to the toilet. Thats before i leave home always seem to have settled my nerves by the time i have got where i need to go.

Oh wow that sucks. I don't see myself doing that. But it's good that you settle your nerves before leaving home.
