I've thought about getting a Sam's Club membership. But everytime I've gone in there I've just got the feeling I would spend way more money then necessary and my little family of 3 would never use everything. I have however recently started shopping at my local meat market and buying my meat in bulk. The last time I went there I bought one of their freezer packs which cost me around $71. It came with a ton a meats in different varieties. I'd say it will probably last my family at least a month. I feel like I got a pretty good deal and the service there was great. My only complaint is the area of town it's in.

What do you all shop for in bulk? And how often do you shop in bulk?

I don't have a Sam's Club near me anymore but I used to go there and ended up spending more than I wanted to each time. I don't remember any really great deals there either. What I've been doing lately is watching the sales and stocking up when a good one comes along. The local grocery store in my town has been having some pretty good 2 for the price of 1 sales for the past few weeks and a lot of 5 for $5 deals that are also good. I also take advantage of buying meat in bulk when I can.

I just live by myself and I thought that I'd never would want or need a club membership to any store. But, for some reason, I wanted to join Sam's Club and I actually use it a lot. I eat a lot of vegetables and I found that I could buy them, frozen, in bulk and they would last me months. Also, milk and bananas were so cheap that I figured just buying those alone would save me enough money for the membership every year. While I found a better place for fresh vegetables, I still go to Sam's Club to get my meats, bananas, spinach, milk, frozen vegetables, cereal (oatmeal) and a few other things. All this for just one person, too.

I used to have a Sam's membership, but the nearest one is about 1 hr from me and with gas prices, it's just no longer feasable. I bought things like organic sugar, raw almonds, raw pecans, pure maple syrup, butter, toilet tissue, spices, yeast, and fruit all in bulk. I also have a freezer and a vacuum sealer so that I could package stuff and put it away. I froze the nuts, butter, yeast and some spices. I saved quite a bit when the gas was cheaper, now it's 'six of one half dozen of the other' kinda deal. Too far to drive for 20 mpg jeep. doh

Very seldom buy in bulk much anymore. Did it a lot when all the kids were home. That was the only way you could afford t shop. Now that there is just me and the MRs we just by what we need. We make a list for the month and buy it and that is it. Every now and again if someone just has one spectacular sale we will indulge and freeze what we dont use but very seldom any more.

In the past, I shopped quite a bit at Sam's and saved tons of money in the process. I do have an extremely large family for this day and age though, including 5 kids.

The last time I went to Sam's which was just a few months ago, prices had gone sky high, and it was no longer quite the deal that it used to be. Now I have to watch everything and make sure it really is a cost saving move.

I do shop at our local butcher quite often. They are only open for the summer months, but I can pick up twice as much meat for less money than at Sams or our grocery store. I will spend the summer stocking the freezer for the winter months when they aren't open.

I spend much more time these days in our local dollar stores. It seems that I spend less money there, get more food and manage to stock the cupboards with a better supply then from anywhere else.

I sometimes buy things in bulk, but not food, cause they often be bad before we could eat them all. I buy baby diapers and tissues in bulk. I bought bulk snacks when my daughter is having her first birhtday, those snacks were then divided in small packages to be distributed to the children that came to the party, it was a good deal.

I have a membership at a wholesale club and that is where I mostly buy my non-perishables. Things like diapers, tissues, napkins, spices, batteries. They are always a great deal and I know they won't expire before I need them. They also have great deals sometimes on toys, clothes and books, outdoor furniture, appliances. The amount I save on diapers alone is worth the membership fee. Everything else is just icing on the cake. I go about once a month at the most, but I buy enough to make it worth the trip. Holidays are great because I can buy wrapping paper and seasonal items pretty inexpensively.

Not too often anymore. I used to like to shop in bulk because I can save some money. But now, I don't want to do it anymore. First, I always ends up with more than I need and it makes me use and eat more than what supposed to be. Second, sometimes I forgot that I still have it in my inventory and it just went bad. So, it is like wasting money and not saving money. Third, I don't have a big storage so it is a challenge for me on how to store it. So, now, I stop that habit and I just buy only what I really need the most.
