Do You Like Camping? |
| |
| Now the weathers half decent in England I've started going out camping again, last night we went camping on a beach called priory bay in Seaview near where I live on the isle of wight. It was really nice we had a barbecue and later a fire it did rain but only lightly and the tent didn't leak. I love camping it makes a change to being indoors all the time and makes you appreciate nature more deeply Do you like camping? Or do you miss your home comforts? We didn't have an air bed last night and sand is surprisingly hard when you lay down on it through a ground sheet. We will definitely be getting an air bed before the next time we go, what's your must have camping accessory? Mine has to be the air bed and sleeping bag, the thing I miss most is my bed and an air bed is the most comfortable alternative I've found. | | Our camp at priory bay. | | | | |

| | It is nice to do especially if you are on a campsite with toilets and showers etc, I usually camp at music festivals but I've missed them all this year. | | | |

| | I went camping twice in my lifetime, once with school and then once in college, both times were a disaster. I have never been camping since and I do not think that I ever will, I am definately not at one with nature, I love my home comforts too much! | | | | | | |

| | It's not for everyone and if the weather isn't right it can be terrible, I miss home to when I'm camping but it's worth it for the experience. | | | |

| | We love camping, matter of fact we are leaving in a couple of hours to go camping for the weekend. We do have a air matteress and it makes it great, we upgraded this summer lol to one of the raised airmatteresses, and it is just as comfortable as being home. I am so ready to go. I have been on medical leave since the end of April, injured my wrist at work, and I am about to go crazy staying at home, I hate not being able to do most of the stuff I normally do. So getting away for the weekend will be wonderful. We normally go at least one weekend a month, and we take our dog with us, she loves it, there is a pond for her to swim in, and she loves going camping. | | | | | | |

| | I'd like to do it more often but you only really can in the summer in England, apparently we are going to have two months of hot weather now so I'll try and camp as much as I can. | | | |

| | There are some good ones on the island too, but because we live here we can easily just go home so I don't need the facilities really. | | | |

| | I don't like to camp, I LOVE to camp. It is one of my favorite things to do. One of my favorite ways to spend a weekend or a holiday. I love being outdoors, hearing the birds sing, and feeling the breeze blowing. It's just incredible to me. I live in the US in the state of Colorado where there are mountains to camp in. But the mountains do have a limited season when it's most comfortable to camp there. Yes, I do miss some of my home comforts. Therefore I get teased a lot about all the camping gear I have. LOL I have so much gear partly because I love camping so much and partly because I like my comforts so much. Over time I have collected 3 tents, 2 screen rooms, and a multitude of other things. I like to cook when I'm camping so I have a multitude of cooking equipment too. As for the comforts I don't like to be without, the air bed is certainly one of them. I currently have a thin air bed and I am seriously considering getting the double thick or tall air bed, (I'm not sure what they call it). Partly for more comfort for my back and also because it's hard for this 43 year old body to get up off the floor on a cold morning when the joints are stiff. LOL I also have a shower tent and battery operated shower head pump because when I'm hot and dirty I like to get clean. I only take that though if we're going to be gone longer then 2-3 days. The other item of comfort I have that really stands out is my battery powered fan. I can't sleep at night if it's hot without having air blowing on my face and neck. That might sound pathetic, I know but that's just me. What can I say. Sleeping, eating, and swimming outdoors in remote places away from a lot of people is my idea of refreshing and relaxing fun! | | | | | | |

| | A few years ago I saw someone with a solar powered shower that you fill up with water and it heats enough water to have a quick shower, I've never seen one in the shops but I'd like one of those myself. I also need to get myself an air bed as I've just used my dads for years and should have my own by now. | | | |

| | I love going camping, though usually not for more than a weekend at a time. I haven't gotten to go camping in more than a year, though. The last time we went was a blast--staying up late chatting with friends, around a campfire. | | | | | | |

| | We had a fire the last time I went, the wood kept exploding though as it was on a beach and must have had wet bits in it though it was very dry. I want to go camping again before the end of the summer. | | | |

| | I love to camp. I was born to camp I think. My parents liked to camp and my first camping trip was when I was about 3 months old. I started off in tents and now we have the luxury of a camper and no more leaky tents and hard ground! The weather around here has been not great this year and it wasn't until the middle of July before I got out camping. There is nothing better than sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows! I think the Isle of Wight would be a great place to camp, I love England and all her glory! | | | | | | |

| | I wish we could afford a camper van it would be so much easier and more comfortable, but being in a tent is an experience of it's own too, I'm sure both have their good points. An air bed is essential if you are in a tent though. | | | |

| | Hello nancy :) It looks like you had a nice campsite and had a good time. I very much enjoy camping and have done a lot of it over the years. I prefer camping through wilderness to a campsite that is secluded and have walked many a mile to do just that. I'm not one who likes to camp within site of other people because I enjoy the solitude of being out on my own. There are times, however, when I have just driven up to a campsite, parked, got out, and set up camp. I haven't camped with an air mattress, although there have been times when I've rushed together a camping trip where I just drove up and got out of the truck and set up camp and so I have taken my mattress with me. I have also used a solar shower on occasion. They are handy on long excursions or for beach camping (I don't like all the sand and salt on me.) I do love to camp on the beach, but as you say, the sand can be hard. I like to dig out indentions in the sand so that it molds to my body. That can be comfortable. I can only think of one time when I actually used a tent when sleeping on the beach. I prefer sleeping out under the stars and just staring into space. The first time that I camped tentless, I learned that one wakes up quite damp / wet, and so now when I camp on the beach, I spread a tarp or plastic over me and my sleeping bag so that I can at least wake up dry. The only must have camping accessory for me is quality, comfortable, hiking boots. | | | | | | |
