It is as way to say what was written on the other responses. You can of course substitute the name of God at the end with gosh. If you are a Christian, that is a Bible believing Christian, you are not supposed to say the whole phrase from which OMG comes from and you are to discourage others from doing so, so they figured by just initializing it they can get away and not be accused of blasphemy. If you are not a Christian, you might not know this.
I usually say Wow! when I see something that excites me extremely.

Alot of people use the abbreviation of OMG. It can stand for one of tow things that I know of right off. It can stand for, oh my god, or it can stand for oh my gosh. I don't know if other people are using it for other meanings or not but those are the top two the abbreviation is used for that I know of.

I use this quite often lol, it's just easier to shorten it up =P To me it can either stand for "Oh my God" or "Oh My Gosh." But I think most often if someone sees those letters they think Oh My God.

Yeah it's the shortcut to oh my God. Hehe. What I really want to know is what IMO means. Ever encountered that one too, bombshell?
