One of the most famous vehicles in Canadian history is back in Montreal Friday. The Terry Fox Van, the van that the young terry fox and entourage used in his 1980 marathon of hope is in montreal, why is the van so precious to Canadians? It is because a young Canadian was stricken with cancer and to help raise funds for the cancer association he started the marathon of hope his mission was to walk across cancer to raise money for cancer. He started in New Foundland hoping along on one leg, and sadly it ended 147 days later when he was stricken cancer in the lungs to add to the cancer he already had. The van travelled behind him to make sure he was okay along the route, He died shortly afterward at the tender age of 22. The van was lost for several years and finally tracked down by a family member, when the ford company heard that the terry fox foundation purchased it this now badly tarnished van, they payed to have it restored. Terry Fox is a Canadian hero and icon, rarely will you see a Canadian here the name without a tear in their eye, and now Montreal will get to see the historic van one more time.
