Someone Wants to Buy My Domain Name? |
|
Urgh! Got an email through my own website that someone is interested in buying my domain name (beauty-tricks.com). Surprisingly, I haven't even given it a thought but the word "NO" popped up in my head. It's a website which me and my friends are working on for around 2 years and I don't think we are going to just sell it like that (besides, I believe the guy is not some BIG buy who would pay big bucks*laughs*). But if someone wants to buy your domain name, would you sell it?

1. sedel1027 (12389) | 1 year ago | I have done it before. My ex and I had a site that we had been working on for about a year and a company came to us offering to buy it. We made $10K off of the deal.

sedel1027 (12389) | 1 year ago | I checked out our site. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't sell. it. I am sure you guys put a lot of work in it and guess what -> you can back up all that data and still have those same pages on a new domain name.
If you site was a custom built, hand coded, fancy flash site, with a devoted (like 1000K+ people) forum, then I would advise against it.

wondericequeen (4416) | 1 year ago | I don't know, I haven't got that experience before but since they haven't suggested a price, I am not interested to invest my time in negotiating "a not sure deal". But if yahoo or google wants to buy my domain name, of course I would think about it*laughs* (must be dreaming!).

4. moneymint18 (383) | 1 year ago | Hi wondericequeen, I know you will feel not to sell your domain but there is no harm in selling your domain if somebody is offering you huge money. There are some people who are just buying and selling their domain and they are milliners you can't imagine the power of a domain. You can sell you are getting good return.

5. hiccup (6438) | 1 year ago | GIRL. Hang on to it thats one good name, and wait out for the big bucks, If you are going to sell make sure its a big name mob and bleed them for that site.
"beauty-tricks.com" Like I said thats a good site name, what every FEMALE asks for.
If and when you go to sell the name make sure you have legal advice and do it that way so you are not burnt.
You have a good site name and it should be worth a million $'s to someone at the least.
Just play the game ask what he is offering, Find out, if he is not into the 100,000's then he is chicken feed
Just think what MC D would pay for a site called "BIG MAC", or "Ronald Mc Donald".
What FORD would pay for a site called "Mustang"
What a site called "FRIES" would be worth.
I think now you have the idea. I wish you luck in what ever you do, get back to me if you get a good offer or do sell, Id like to know what was payed for a site like that.
Just think of the late hour TV channels who sell on air Beauty stuff, just think how much they pay out in TV adds in a Year, and would they ever love to have a site like yopu have for their flog,
"Hey Girls go to beauty-tricks.com for all you needs in what will make you more beautiful in less than 30 days" Can you see that I can. If I ever see that site name up, Ill contact you for a $, haha.x

6. drannhh (7239) | 1 year ago | That would depend somewhat on the price, I think. Once when someone tried to buy one of my usernames. As it was a special one, I did not even ask the price and said no, but then the person managed to hack the program where I was a member and steal my username, change the password and lock me out. The problem was that he never changed the URL so my we page was still linked to it. I wrote to the program owners and they never replied but apparently they blocked the account so that nobody could use it. They did not, however, delete the account. I was grossed out.
I have heard of people's domains getting stolen by unscrupulous characters. It happened on a PTC program I joined. Bizarre.

7. eeyore39 (3181) | 1 year ago | It's all in the name as they say so be very sure you want to get rid of it or change it to something else. There was a recent vote by the people involved with the .com stuff on the internet. You may want to do a little home work. Bottom line is the intent is to have a .whatever for the different classes of things. For example yours maybe .beauty insead of .com. So this may make the whole issue mute. Do a little home work and really feel it is in your best interest if you let it go. You are probably right as to the money as well. You will not get a lot and it may not be worth your effort to even consider it with the changes you would have to do. Good luck. When I pick a domain name I pick it because it fits what I am doing and would not consider selling it unless it was a real good offer or I was intending to go into some other line of work.

I have a lot of domains to sell on sedo.
Some people are willing to pay big money if they need that domain name, but your domain name is not a premium domain (one word) so there are other things that can make your domain to be more valuable to others.
But give a look at sedo, and you will see what to expect for that domain name.
Don't pass on something that you will regret later on!;)
there are loads of similar domain names like yours, and maybe that guy owns a company with that name that you are using, so you will never know what to expect, but try to give a look at websites like sedo or domain appraisals and you will see what it's worth.
;)

9. Vladilyich (1111) | 1 year ago | I just renewed my domain and wouldn't sell it for the world. I haven't used it yet (lazy), but I plan to in the near future.
Even though I'm in the US, I registered it with a company in Australia.
