I'd recommend http://www.mailinator.com/ for signing up for such things; a deliberately information-free email you can create in a second, so your proper accounts don't get snarled with spam.

I have to say I don't really pay attention to the number next to my junk folder. I checked for the purpose of this discussion and it says 894. Which means that is the number of junk mail I got in the last 30 days (older mails there get deleted automatically). I dont think it increased or anything. I suppose it's just constant.

That's why it's good to have several other email addresses to use just for signing up for things online.
I still get a good number at my regular email address, but I get thousands a week at the other addresses that I don't really care about.

i get absolutly loads of spam and it drives me nutts because sometimes i actually get some genuine emails mixed in with it so i either have to sift thru them all or just delete them and not know if i have deleted something of importance.
cant stand spammers!!!!!!!!!

That amount of junk mail is insane. I don't get that many in months. You must have signed up for quite a few things to be getting that amount of junk emails. I would set up a new email to use for signing up for that stuff to avoid sorting through to find the good stuff.

It is ridiculous the amount of junk mail that comes in, I am forever emptying mine because it gets chocka within a few hours. It was getting so bad that I have even stopped going on a lot of things just to try and stop it all. Luckily it does seem to be slowing up a bit now thank goodness.

I get a ton! I haven't bothered to look at the amount it has added up to but I'm sure it's astronomical. Most of it comes in from a person's name like Jim or Laura so you'll be more inclined to open it. I wish i could cut it down, but like you said it's the nature of the beast when you want to make money they send you spam.
