Weeds out of control

United States

Here lately we've had so much rain that I haven't been able to get out into the garden to do anything. Well, today it was very pretty out so I went to get some of the weeds out of the garden. Oh my! It was a mess out there. I got quite a bit done, but I still have more to do tomorrow. Have the weeds ever gotten out of control in your garden?

Not in the garden. But the flower beds had lots of weeds when I started my company 5 years ago. I was so busy I didn't have time. Now I sneak in weeding time in between the rain or if I get home before dark. I am considering using it to train employees. But I don't like people messing in my flower beds. So maybe not. LOL

Lay a weed barried in the soil cutting an "X" for the flowers to grow through. They work wonders for weed control. I also add wood chips to the area for moisture retention as well as weed control. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I understand what you mean there. I had my kids help in my veggie garden once and never again. I am taking care of it myself. It's better that way.

Weed barrier would be too much work and not practical in most areas. I have also found that over time it damages the soil. I always use pine bark mulch. Not the shredded pallet dyed bulk mulch. Who knows what is in that stuff. Yikes. Kids in the garden. LOL THat would make me really nervous.

We don't have much of a garden here, my mother has roses, and when they die, i trim them. that about how much I do with the few plants that are outside. Water them, cut them or throw them away.

We were still cutting back the weeds from the rainy season! It stops raining here for most of the summer, but it rains most of the winter! So our weeds are now under control!

It's hard work to get them back down once the weeds get out of control. Best of luck to the both of us!

Oh yes, it certainly is difficult! I knock them down with the hoe, and then dig them out with the hand shovel! It can take time but if you dig out the roots, there is less chance that they will come back as strong!

Many a time they have and it was a good hard job getting them back under control again.. Here in Knoxville, Tennessee it is getting so hot, that the wedds are the only thing growing.. Some of my flowers aren't doing that well, but maybe the rain this weekend will help..

It's hot here too and I think the rain is why everything is growing. I hope you get the rain you need!

Mine are currently out of control (my lawn needs mowing too!). Its been raining so often here When I'm off work its too wet to work in the garden and other days I've been camping, at the beach or fishing. I did spend 45 minutes on just my flower bed tonight and half an hour mowing. I'll hopefully finish the flower bed tomorrow, do another half hour of mowing (it takes 5 hours to mow my lawn with the push mower) and start on my garden. Last time i weeded the garden my carrot still werent up.
