If the internet had to be shut down for a month what would you do |
|
I think I would be completely lost. There would be no other way of contacting my 100+ friends on mylot as well as all my relatives and friends all over the globe. I just today realized that other than emails I do not contact my friends and relatives who are in other countries. So if the internet had to be shut down I would not have any other way of getting in touch with them at all. What about you? What would you do if the internet was shut for a month?

1. Piscesmoon (1440) | 4 months ago | Mayka, I can't even bear to think about a month without internet. Like you, I have become very dependent on it for keeping in touch with friends through email and messenger. Any question I need answered, any time I need to look at a map or look up a phone number, anything I need to research, I head straight to the internet. I know we managed fine before it came along but I think a lot of us would be lost without it.

2. guybrush (1700) | 4 months ago | I would catch up on reading the pile of books, magazines and newspapers which has stacked up and is getting larger each day because I spend too much time on the computer! Being without it for a while would be hard - but probably a very good thing!

mayka123 (1552) | 4 months ago | I cant remember when is the last time I sat and read a book. So I think I would end up doing the same thing as you. Life would be pretty difficult though.

mayka123 (1552) | 4 months ago | I think visiting people more would be much more fun. Nowadays I too hardly go visiting. And I would probably spend some more time exercising coz I have been putting on a lot of weight.

5. lazeebee (1923) | 4 months ago | Yup, I'd lose contact with my net-friends, but fortunately I have other interests. So I will be able to catch up on reading my favourite books, or watching the DVDs that I've brought and borrowed, but still not watched yet.

mayka123 (1552) | 4 months ago | I too have a few DVDs that I have not seen but I am not too interested in films. So I think I would spend my time reading.

| 7. cellmusic (56) | 4 months ago | I would kind of care. I wouldn't really need it for doing leisure stuff but I need to check my e-mails in case something really important happens that I don't hear about. But I think a world without the internet would be really great. You might actually have to call someone.(sarcastic for those you didn't get it)

8. greysfreak (855) | 4 months ago | Well, besides going crazy, isolating and having no contact with friends. I guess I would just have to deal with it, obviously not very well, but I would spend a lot of time playing offline computer games, watching tv, listening to music, etc. I might also spend a lot of time working in photoshop, and then when the internet came back up I would be here on mylot I would be uploading pictures like crazy, as well as writing discussions. So I would definitely be depressed, but I would try to think of all the things I wanted to do once I could get back on! And of course I would focus on coming up with ideas for myLot discussions, which I'm sure a lot of us would be doing! Although I doubt this would ever happen, it would really ruin my month if it did! Seriously, especially if it happened before the Fall TV season began, summer tv is bad enough without having to deal with no internet also.

10. gemini_rose (8037) | 4 months ago | If the internet was to shut for a whole month then I would be lost at first, but then I would just start doing all the things that I did before I was so dependant on the internet. I would be able to spend more time reading, more time writing and more time on my cross stitch! I reckon that the month would fly by, but I would still miss it loads.

mayka123 (1552) | 4 months ago | I have not done my cross stitch for the last 20 years or so. I think even I would try that again.
