Minerals for the plants

A lot of nutrients are lost in the water. Definitely use the left over water. It is an excellent natural fertilizer. If I have coffee or tea left over in the pot I will use that too. You should also break up the egg shells and mix that into the soil as well.

ALso i read in a book about banana peels as a great fertilizer. Should try that too....

Here in the Philippines, we eat rice everyday and before we cook it, we wash it first. I collect the rice washings and water my plant with that. I do not use feritlizers to my orchids, just the rice washings everyday, and they are healthy and give me flowers always.
