annoying felines | | I have two cats-a brother and sister duo named Bandit and Dottie. They're the exact opposite of one another. Dottie is the runt; she's so small and skinny we laugh and call her our 'little squirt'. Her brother is a big lazy lump that would prefer to just sleep all day long. The only thing they decide to do together is be annoying. They're the kind of cats who want to wake you up at four in the morning so you can pet them or feed them. It's cute when you think about it, but it's so annoying when you're the one being woken up! Does anyone else have this issue? Or do I just have dysfunctional felines? Here's the link to a cute and hilarious video for anyone who loves their cats! http://www.msplinks.com/M... Enjoy!

Occasionally we catch them sleeping together which leads us to believe that deep down they love each other. They are indoor cats and one is more dominant than the other and we always find scratches on the less dominant one so we think they have a love/hate relationship. This morning one of them woke me up at 0530 to tell me she was hungry. Meanwhile the other was in the living room trying to kill my plants. I think your cats must be normal or mine too are abnormal!

She is usually right about bedtime, and she has learned that when she wakes me too early, I just grab her and hug her. She sings me to sleep with her purr also. The other three generally ignore me except when it's food time.

| | 4. Loverbear (406) | 2 months ago | You aren't alone with your cats waking you up. I used to have that problem too until I put out a self feeder with their dry cat food in it. Cats are quite different from dogs, and they won't eat themselves sick like a dog would do if you tried the same thing. Cats are nocturnal by nature, as this is the time that their prey comes out; namely mice and other creatures. So, if they don't find something to hunt, they choose to wake us up for entertainment and attention. I have a pair of brothers, and they are close in action as your pair. Willy is a chunky guy and laid back and sleeps a bunch, while his brother Khuay is slim and very active. They have gotten to the point where they don't wake me up at night, they sleep on opposite sides of my bed. Thankfully they sleep!!! They used to get up on my head board on my bed and leap onto my stomach at night. Talk about rude awakenings!!!! LOL!! I started keeping them up during the day, which really helped calm them down at night. Also, I have two other cats which are very calm and don't pester me at night. Also, remember in the feline world, the female is the hunter and the male is "King" and is there for breeding. Hence the phrase "Lazy as a tom cat". He is just being a normal male cat--at least he isn't kicked back in the recliner drinking beer, eating chips and dogs and belching, while watching the "game" on television!!! LOL Too bad we can't adjust our cats to be alarm clocks and wake us up at the time we "want" to get up... So, don't feel alone about the cats and how they act, they are; believe it or not; normal.

We have three cats and one of them acts just exactly like this. http://video.aol.com/vide... Our dog also wakes us up but he usually does it by "talking" to us or even odder, "sneezing" to get us to pay attention to him when we would rather sleep.
