I grew up on country music and still listen to it regularly even though I also listen to other types of music these days. I still enjoy hearing the old singers and songs. I like the newer stuff, but sometimes I'm in the mood for some twang! Do any of you like: George Jones Tammy Wynett Loretta Lynn Merlle Haggard Hank Williams Hank Williams Jr. Or any of the others?

What's upright bass? Is it a like a big guitar or like a cello or what? Sorry for being so ignorant. I bet you could learn banjo since you already play other insturments.

I am not the biggest country music fan, that's for sure. But, I like that group called Lone Star. I guess they are not that old, in terms of country music. My husband digs some of those older country music stars, like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams.

Lone Star isn't as old as the others mentioned but they are definitely not a new group. I like a few of their songs.

My Uncle Played Guitar and I grew up listening to songs He'd Sing,by Merle,Hank,etc..I can listen to them, but growing up here in Ireland I've also had to listen to "Homegrown" Country singers whose songs are sung with AMERICAN accents!

Oh my goodness! I can't even imagine what an Irishman would sound like singing country music. I've never heard that one. Of course some English people sound American when they sing but not when they talk. I would love to hear the Irishmen! I really like Irish accents.

Yes sunnflr, I remember all of them and still love to hear all the old country music singers. George Jones is one of my all time favorites and Johnny Cash and so many more. I like all kinds of music, but Country is my favorite. I love songs that tell a story and that is what Country music is all about.

Yep, that is true. Often it's a sad story, but it's a story. I like songs that make sense. My husband laughs at me when he's listening to some rock song and I ask him what it's supposed to mean. He says it doesn't have to mean anything.
