This story is a little bit of Canadian military history, one the best Canadian generals of all time, Rick Hillier has retired. http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474977390649 Normally I do no pay much attention to military stuff, but I am proud of the Canadian involvement in Afghanistan, fighting the taliban, do you think the taliban will ever be defeated? do you think the war on terrorism will ever be? Did you even know about Canada's major contribution in Afghanistan?

No matter what we think and we can always hope that it will end some day just dont know what it willtake to get them all out of there and let the world go back to having some kind of peace you really would think the people there and else whare would be tired of their place being bombed and tore up and help do something about it instead of going to be insurgents!

regular people are just that regular people, most citizens in any country are regular people, then you have the criminals, they are a different breed of people altogether, even in canada and america.

I do not believe that the Taliban will never be beaten, they are too sneaky and can be right in your face without you even knowing who they are, what they are thinking or what they are planning to do next.. I do hope the war on terrorism will be won and it will be wiped out completely, but am not sure it will be.. I applaud the Canadians for standing with the Americans and fighting this horrible war and fighting for all of our freedom.. The Canadians are unrewarded and unthanked for their participation is this war.. Their sons are buried just like ours are and Canadian mothers grieve just like we do.. I thank my Canadian neighbors for standing with us and helping us.. Have a great evening and be proud to be a Canadian..

I have heard of there contribution a few times through Mylot. I don't know if they ever will defeat it or not but I am hoping that they will and get this done and over with so people can get back to their families and protect them and so they won't feel as though their heart is being ripped out everytime their loved ones has to go back after a leave or everytime they hear that another bomb went off and have to wonder if it hurt or killed a loved one.

I'm a huge military/history buff. Plus to being in the Navy and married to the military, it's hard not to love it. I honestly don't think that the taliban will ever be defeated. They fight dirty, and until the laws of war change, they will keep fighting dirty. I don't think there will be a end to the war on terrorism, I feel in the future, we won't be actually fighting it, but more on the lines of being prepaired in case something does happen again like 9/11. So we can stop it beofre it does. Yes, I did know that Canada plays a important role in Afghanistan, with troops to helping rebuild Afghanistan.

canada has also been fighting the taliban in the worst area, where the rest of the union forces won't go, we have so many solidiers killed now, and you know we don't have a big military force. Canada is not a fighting country but it is fighting for North America, in Afghanistan.

I would salute every Canadian military person and shake their hands for taking the time to leave their families to go and fight for a cause that started on our land. Oh I know, Canada's military isn't big, I have talked to a guy from the Canadian Navy. His ship just pulled into port for a short time. I pray that this so called war will end soon, and that our men and women will be able to come home and I'm not referring to just America. Something has to be done, our men and women are coming back all screwed up, and sad to say, our government has been over looking them like they did during the Vietnam war. I don't know personal accounts on how other soliders are dealing with the war, when they come back, but I can only imagine it's about the same.

I had no idea until now that Canada was involved with contributing to the war in Afghanistan. I think that is great. We need to put an end to this war as soon as possible. It is really hurting alot of families and lives. I honestly don't think the war on terror will ever be over. Some people just do not want peace. I am glad that we have help fighting the Taliban though.
